Nostalgia

does anyone out there remember Accrington School of Art in 1949. I was a student there and loved every minute.

Does the Haworth Art Gallery hold any of your work, Joan? The do have stuff by locals. Was Mr Lyndoe the principal then? Who were your contemporaries? Is this your married name? Maiden name?

Click onto Search on the top line - type in the keyword 'artist' and it may bring up some postings to interest you.

I apologise for Cashy's mis-spelling of the word Grammar.

Didn't they have one of the studios on the top floor of the Grammar School in the early '50s- everyone trying to sneak a look into there when going to Art Class, to see the more interesting subjects than the bowls of fruit that we had

There was an Art Studio on the top floor when I was at Accy Grammar. We weren't allowed to go there. If I recall it was on the front of the building.

It was still aroused plenty of interest in amongst us lads the 60's, Barrie. Not least for the rather attractive young ladies who attended! ;)

It sure was on the top floor of Accy grammar--was supposed to be out of bounds but was still possible to gain admittance--real cracker of a girl from Clitheroe attended--unable to recall her name though

Janet Holgate is the name I recall. Sadly, she fancied my mate more than me.
