Re: wot treats.
Never liked pobbies - thought they were yucky. We used to have mashed potato with eggs beaten into it, we called it "Brookin" - luscious, it was.
Does anyone remember barley pudding? It was made with barley kernels, and tasted absolutely wonderful - like rice pudding but richer and creamier. If anyone knows where I can get barley kernels and has a recipe, I would be so grateful. And can you remember how long it took to spend 3d at the sweetshop?...... |
Re: wot treats.
Glad I found this - no one I know has ever heard of "pobbies". My mother used to make beef stew when I was little and she would always say, "do you want pobbies"? By this she meant did I want a lot of bread mushed up in it - I always said yes - mmmmmmmmm delicious!!

My mum used to make Home made crisps..........they are lovely and miles more crispier than packeted crisps!!!
She also made Potatoe cakes............hmmmmmm loads of butter!!! And home made onion curry, poured over roasted potatoes!! That was a proper winter warmer and I still make that now for my own family!! :D |
