Re: Aaarg! It's come! HELP! lol
We're going off AOL and onto Bulldog (ISP) and our thing has been delivered today but I haven't a clue what we're supposed to do with it. Maybe I'll get round to studying it tonight but the whole thing is a package deal for phone-line too and our phone line will be switched in 10 days by which time BT say we won't be able to use AOL any more so we need to sort this thing out or we won't have t'internet and I will not survive without t'internet.

Re: Aaarg! It's come! HELP! lol
Willow, is it a speedtouch modem? Basicly this is how it *should* go, as it went for me..
On the day of the activation BT disconnected my line and connected me to Bulldog. Up to then my current adsl worked fine, right up until the moment BT disconnected me. Before the activation date, make sure you print out a copy of the email from Bulldog which you have either got or will be getting, explaining settings like username and password... When the day comes, all you need to do is put the cd you got with the modem into your pc, follow the installtion instructions onscreen and plug in your modem when promted. You'll then need to enter the username and password to connect. Hopefully it will all work fine tho my connection was a bit dodgy for the first few hours as Bulldog are still testing. ps. My activation was done before 9am on the day of activation, but it might be longer, you just have to hope ;) Best way to check if it's been done is to see if you can still connect to AOL I guess... I hope i've explained that well enough! |
Re: Aaarg! It's come! HELP! lol
Hmmm it's supposed to be a bit more complicated than that because it involves networking 3 computers. The woman said it would all be in the box but I don't think it is. Will have to look at it more closely tomorrow if I have time.

Re: Aaarg! It's come! HELP! lol
Oh willow do you have the wireless router? I know they were doing these for £1 as well as the modems..
If it looks like: http://www.cyfr.co.uk/phone/modem.jpg (maybe a different colour..) then it's the modem otherwise it's the router :) |

I can't find the flippin thing now! :D Not your mobile Ian, the stuff that came. Busman was looking at it yesterday and I've been out most of the day today (from 8:30 am) Was going to have a look at it just after logging on to AccyWeb and couldn't find th thing anywhere. He's working until late this evening so it may be tomorrow now before I locate it.
When I have done, I shall return (as General McCarthur said) |
