Re: BitComet

Thanks, i've downloaded it already and running it now, getting some good speeds too

chav1 13-03-2006 16:18

Re: BitComet

its not the software that decides your speedsbut the sources you connect to

ps:

download a program called peerguardian and always run it when using torrents

it blocks out university servers and govenment servers who will report your activities to your internet provider blah blah blat etc etc

just google it , its free but like condoms dosnt come with a 100% gurentee but lessens teh chance of getting busted

Re: BitComet

I've never tried bitcomet but i know of at least 1 site that banned the client for whatever reason.
I'd recommend Azureus, but utorrent is supposed to be very good.

Re: BitComet

yeah a few sites that req u to upload aswell as download have banned bitcomet cuz the program doesnt allow them to track what ur uploading so they cant b sure if u r sharing etc

bit lord is almost identical

Re: BitComet

I would also recommend UTorrent, i used to use BitTornado but that was very memory hungry and slowed the computer right down, BitComet is banned on the site i use so i`ve never used it so cant say how good or bad it is.

Re: BitComet

I use Azuerus , i find it very reliable.

Basher 18-05-2006 14:24

Re: BitComet

I've recently switched to Azureus.

I just fancied trying it out and quite like it.

Re: BitComet

Re: BitComet

I tried utorrent for a couple of months but found that it was very slow in uploading. I've moved on to Azureus which has been pretty brilliant.

andrewb 19-05-2006 18:36

Re: BitComet

Did you set the ports properly in utorrent? I've recently switched to it (from azureus) because it takes up a LOT less memory, and speed should depend on the torrent not the software you're using..

junetta 19-05-2006 19:57

Re: BitComet

I think so, but admit that I'm quite new to this. I reckon it might be better for me to stick with Azureus.

Re: BitComet

most sites are banning Bitcomet... Utorrent is the best

mani 24-05-2006 17:30

Re: BitComet

yeah i stopped using azureus cuz it was so memory heavy

i use bit lord - identical to bit comet but not barred from alot of sites

so u can use as u please

Robdunn24 24-05-2006 19:07

Re: BitComet

bit lord is also being banned by many private trackers

mani 29-05-2006 04:00

Re: BitComet

as far as i'm aware the prob thats coming with bitcomet doesnt exist with bitlord...

its all about flaggin and sendin info back to the tracker as to how much u've uploaded...

Now then just to show how much a techo-phobe I am just what is it that this thread is about? Please bear with me and treat me with kid gloves and the gentle wisdom that you all seem to show and share.

The best software for file sharing downloads via the web. Handy for films TV progs and music in some cases. There are quite a few and I several including the one built into my browser.

Re: BitComet

Ber, it's a tool which assists in the downloading and uploading of tv programmes and video stuff. I'm a novice too, and have really struggled with this peer to peer stuff. All I need now is a good conversion package!

mani 31-05-2006 04:08

Re: BitComet

conversion package?

convert what?

acidtech 31-05-2006 08:42

Re: BitComet

junetta , by conversion do you mean xvix, avi etc to dvd format?

if so i find that if you are not technically minded then nero ultra latest release is the one for you.
it lets you create your own menu's , you can convert almost anything with it . i recommend you give it a try.

if thats not what you were asking for then you need to be more specific

junetta 31-05-2006 16:07

Re: BitComet

Thanks Acidtech, that was exactly what I was looking for. I managed to find a free download, a month's trial, and tried it out this afternoon.

The picture is perfect but I found that the timing of the sound is a bit off. I'm not sure where I went wrong with that but will give it another go.

Cheers

June xx
