Broadband Help Needed
 

I've just had a phone call from my sister telling me that her broadband isn't working. The problem started when TalkTalk decided to upgrade her phone line. She was without a phone for 10 days (back on yesterday), & she still hasn't got the internet back on. The customer services have told her that she needs a new ADSL cable for the internet to work again.

Her computer is in the dining room, & the pc is in the living room. There is no phone socket in the dining room, so put an extension cable in for her. TalkTalk have said that she needs to have the pc next to the exsisting BT wall socket.

If what TalkTalk are saying is correct, then she's going to need 20m ADSL cable. I can't see how this is so.

i had the same problem with tiscali, to solve the problem 1st make sure there is only the extention lead in the phoneline socket (A DOUBLE SOCKET WONT WORK )2nd connect the splitter at the end of extention ,then your ADSL ......

i have 2 extention leads to make 1 line from my hall way and this is the only way i could get mine to work, hope this helps............

Very helpful, thanks. If the extension is plugged into the wall, where is the phone supposed to be plugged in?

did you not get 1 of those little white boxes that allows you to make phone calls while on the net ...i could probly explaine better over the phone 01253 873317 should you wish to ring...............

Problem sorted. It turns out my Niece had installed a bluetooth dongle & it was causing problems. Bloody kids.

We had a similar problem a couple of months back. Hopefully these little issues should end soon. I've just built myself a new pc, so they can have my old one. Their existing pc can then go into my niece's bedroom.

Just keep Busman on his iron tablets and he should not have problems with his dongle again :rolleyes:
