Hmmmm ...

Last night my new pc (Windows XP one) decided to shut itself off for no reason and came up with boot from disk. Three times I tried turning it off, leaving it for a while, then swtich it back on and 3 times got the same error screen.

It was late, nothing I could do at that time of night so I switched the system off and went to bed expecting a pc 'fix it' day today with many tears and tantrums.

This morning it's back on  .... just loaded Windows without a problem  Anyone any ideas what it might have been so I can check there isn't some serious thing that might happen again.

TIA :)

LOL! Tell me about it! Temperamental barstewards!! :D

Cheers ***Mr D*** I'll take a look. I ran all security checks and stuff first thing this morning, it didn't flag anything obvious.

Is it feasible that it just over heated and shut down?

could of done.

depends if you was running anything that pushed you processor or GFX card at the time it crashed.

If it does it again, upon re boot go into BIOS usually f2 or tab see what temp your processor is at.

RESULT! Yeah I think I know what is now. I had my suspicion on what it was and that has just confirmed it.

That game I go on probably. It was REALLY 'laggy' all night, I did think about turning it off it was so bad but I was having fun :D I can see that pushing both GFX and processor to its limits when it's playing up.

Might just need a clean, dust creates heat build up.
