BT at it again
Has anyone noticed an interruption to BT's Broadband service over the weekend?
I am having problems staying logged on for more than a couple of minutes and when I am logged on the service runs a slow as treacle on a cold day. Times online edition and the Guardian are particularly slow. I've checked the service status but there are no reported faults for the Hyndburn/Gt. Harwood area. Ideas anyone???????????? |
Re: BT at it again
i'm with BT AB, mine has been fine this weekend, but i'm in Blackburn

Re: BT at it again
I constantly have problems but that is just BT in my area. We pay for 8mb but the line is only capeable of 512k...and its unreliable at that. Say with any ISP though. Shame really, hope BT upgrade the line soon.

Re: BT at it again
I am on Orange via BT and I remember getting mail last week from Orange to say BT were upgrading lines which might mean interruption of internet access for a few hours soon but will result in faster access after.
|
Re: BT at it again
I like that, Orange inform their customers that BT is doing work. BT can't be arsed to tell it's own customers. :D :D
Thats a good enough reason not to use BT. There are other reasons IMHO. |
Re: BT at it again
yep, I got the email as well. I'm on the 8M setting but rarely get more than about 5M throughput

i pay the same margaret, aint got a clue what meg i get though

Re: BT at it again
I max out at 6 meg but then they have done upgrades to the lines. They say that the closer to the exchange the better but my mate is a few hundred yards away and only gets about 2.5 meg. I have no problems with the service but I think it sometimes comes down to the area. The only thing BT send out mails for is bills.

mines same but i get 8 meg! |
Re: BT at it again
it all depends on the quality and distance from the exchange to your house. the ISP has no say/effect on it beyond what 'package' you are signed up to, they could sell you a 200M package but if your lines crap you will get what it can handle
|
Re: BT at it again
The service is back to normal-ish today (Monday). But I think that three days with intermittant service or no service at all and neither explanation nor apology is pretty apalling.

It does not make much difference to most people what speed they are on once you get to about the 1mb or probably even less in reality IMHO. You only notice the speed when you start downloading stuff. If you just send mail and read forums and do a bit of googling for info I don't think it matters much if you get 1mb or 8mb. |
Re: BT at it again
My internet has gone down twice in the past 2 nights. Monday night about 11.30pm and last night about 8.30pm. It's come back on at about 7.15am the morning after on both occasions. Possibly doing some work at the exchange ?
