Laptop Keyboard probs

My keyboard on my laptop is playing up - worked fine until yesterday tho the day before my son got a bit of coke on the mousepad not the keys, some keys weren't working then did & others didnt after rebooting, they weirdest thing is that some of them became key functions for likes of control panel, standby & minimize [these arn't standard windows shortcut keys either] then after reboot they changed to other keys setting of the shortcut functions

ie l became shortcut to minimise after reboot m did it then l was fine:confused:

This still happens when i plugged in a usb keyboard as same with on screen windows keyboard:confused:

I even did a system restore just in case it was a software issue & still happening:(

Any ideas???????????????? im back to old pc now :(

lancsdave dont be silly, if you spill even the tinyest bit of coke on a laptop keyboard it shorts out the keyboard circuits, then the pressure pads on the buttons stick, you got take each individual key off and then clean it to get rid of the stickyness, had the same problem with my mum's lappy :p

Re: Laptop Keyboard probs

It didnt hit the keys at all Liam, just mousepad which wiped up carefully as soon as it happened so not long enough to have chance of seeping thro - mousepad works fine just a handful of keys which are screwed up & change with each day passing:rolleyes::D

well when my mum had coke spilt on her's it went on the front, but even if the tinyest splash got on the keys its a pain. does only sections of keys not work? like one half does then the other half does? i had to take off every key, then clean off the pressure pad's with a damp cloth. did the trick.

Mel, try leaving the laptop somewhere 'warm (NOT HOT!) ' to make sure its properly dried out.
