Right, Ive written down as much as i can but it doesnt give me enough time! Hopefully this will help....

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer

Driver_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

Technical info..

***STOP 0x0000001 DI (0x00000001, 0x000000FF, 0x00000000, 0x0000000)

then it says something about dumping memory....

Any of that mean anything?

Re: help??

nowt to do with ISp bernie.. Welcome back BTW

it sounds like teh driver for your network card is duff. what type of network card is it? USB or internal?

If its 'unplugable' then try using teh pC for an evening without it plugged in ( sorry if this means going back to a wired connection or even Shock Horror - no internet)

if this fixes it which i reckon it will then you need to get updated drivers for teh network card. what make/model is it and what version of windows are you using? XP/Vista/2000/98 etc

You were with aleks(or tadah as I always refer to) I assume?

Re: help??

Think I have just had the same problem? PC went to a blue screen and mentioned "kernel error" and dumping physical memory..... said if it was first time of seeing screen to turn off and restart, so i did. It has come back up (duh) , message said to uninstall any recent stuff, only things I have put on are an update msn and a virus thingy-Avast.
Any ideas?
I am on Windows XP and BTinternet.

Re: help??

windows has recently sent a BIG update out (SP3). this is usually the cause of lots of issues, ( I've had numerous texts this last week or so about internet not working etc. )

The kernel error is the core Windows system files that are complaining and nothing like ema's issue. I reckon you need to try system restore back a week or two as an initial starting point.

I know people will winge at me for saying this but I can't even think of an issue ever caused by Linux updating itself. I guess whilst windows is the 'majority OS' we will continue with this sort of issue.

Re: help??

Thanks Entwisi, it seems fine at the moment and I wouldn't know how to "system restore" if my life depended on it! I may well leave it alone and keep my fingers crossed till I can nab someone who can do it for me !:)
BTW you are right about the update, it took ages and I had forgotten about that !

My mate is having similar problems, her desk top picture keeps disappearing leaving her with a black screen. She has tried re-installing it but it keeps going back to black. Any ideas?

Re: help??

I had the problem with the blue screen saying the exact same thing as what ema mentioned, mine was apparently caused by a dodgy motherboard. but my pc was only a day old so got the full thing replaced (which was nice lol).

Re: help??

not on teh mobile theme it doesn't! :D

you need to pick a standard accyweb URL like the one for this thread and add everything on the line below to the end. The one below is for teh blue theme, use 43 for red and 45 if you want the mobile one
