I don't use Linux on PC's often. I just think that at £50 lots of people would still use dodgy copies. It would have to be a lot cheaper than that to get most of those with dodgy copies to buy a genuine one

yeah i think you're right but if it was 50£ i would buy a copy rather than use the dodgy option.... i will never pay £200+

teh problem is that people have over teh years always copied music. then when games were on cassette they copied them and its a behavioural thing ever since. Its also never had teh stigma of "Theft". If your neighbour went down for robbing some old dears how he would be cast out by teh community, if he's known for copying software /music he's everyones buddy because he can get them that latest album for next to nowt......

I also don't think people realise how long it takes to write stuff or how long it took for people to become skilled in what they do. I've spent > 10 years learning my trade which is a constantly moving target unlike a lot of skills. People will pay a builder to build them a wall to protect their house because they can't just copy one from their neighbour but with software they can so they do.

however my neigbours got upvc windows installed and a few months later i copied them
