I can't access anything other than AW!
 

My computer has been fine all day.

I closed it down whilst l took a bath, and Windows updated before it finally closed down.

An hour later I rebooted. Google used to be my homepage, but MSN cheekily took over, when l had to update this week.

My browser is Firefox, and it comes up that the page can't be loaded, when l try to connect with the internet.

If I ignore that, and click on Accy Web from my favourites list, that's ok, as you can see, although it still won't let me connect with Google/Facebook etc from my favourites.

Any ideas what I can/should do.

Have I been taken over by AW?

Should I start believing the conspiracy theorists?

Microsoft recently issued an update to Netframework which sabotaged Firefox.
I was having Firefox problems so uninstalled all the Netframework updates - leave the original install - and disabled microsoft automatic updates.

I wonder if something like that happened to me,GOOGLE was our home page,,,,,,I TUNES went off,and after trying to sort it out,TOGGLE took over...never heard of it,,,and i had to get my son to sort it out,,Luckily he got Google back,,,anyboby else got TOGGLE?

Disabling automatic updates is not a good idea unless you are the geeky sort who knows what and when to update. If you are not careful you could miss important updates.

The .net update was in June. If you have auto updates on you would have got that update ages ago. Firefoc released an update to fix the microsoft plugin so if you have Firefox updating itself you will have been ok with that as well.

Without being at you PC at the time Gary its hard to decide what your problem was. I would guess at a DNS problem with your ISP.

I have Firefox auto updating itself.
The problem happened about 2 weeks ago, so the 'June Netframework update' must have had a delayed effect with me too.
I have turned off Microsoft auto updates so now I need to visit Micrsoft Updates page and choose the critical updates if there are any.

a chance of what might have been is that for the last 2 or 3 weeks ive had messenger telling me to update it .. had done a bit of googling about it .. and people had said that it was a crock .. so wouldnt update it .. next up tried logging in on monday night and it wouldnt .. i had to update it .. so had to go through with it .. and i had to uncheck a lot of boxes otherwise i would have had bing as my search engine (i use google), msn as my homepage - thats accyweb, photos would have been saved online rather than my computer, etc etc. So it could have been that whats changed everything ...

I agree with Margaret on this one, if your computer is working OK, and you have a third party firewall and virus checker, what can microsoft offer, they do a blanket update for millions of computers.

Your configuration may not be among them.
I do sometimes check their updates to see what they are, most of them are for correcting their past errors in the firewall.

If it works then leave it alone.

Don't know whether this happens to anybody else, but Windows Vista regularly updates itself without any prompting from me, it did it over night on Tuesday this week
