Loptop Connection Problems
I have been given a phillips laptop, its wireless and can get it to connect via wireless to my router but it will not connect to the internet. I have even tried with a cable straight to the router and still no joy. Anyone any ideas what i could try to get it working?? I have disabled firewall etc but still cant connect to internet. (sorry, am not very technical and have no idea what i am going on about so will just describe best as i can )

was probably just DNS that was broken. i'd recommend using opendns.org as an alternative to the ISP supplied one. |
Re: Loptop Connection Problems
i have DNS issues sometime when I bring my laptop out of hibernation. If I hibernate it again then turn it back on again it works ok. It is very annoying

This had ongoing issues for months, had tried everything, rollback etc so settled on the system recovery and everything seems fine now so am happy :D but for how long.................. haha

Re: Loptop Connection Problems
dns does seem to be flakey in windows.. i have seen it a number of times on my work PC as well where sleep/hibernate screws it up.
you can try a ipconfig /release ipconfig /renew in a dos/command prompt to reset the networking config |
Re: Loptop Connection Problems
i tried that when it first started to do it but it did not fix it. Nor did disable then re enable the wireless adapter. I have just added static DNS server addresses into the wireless adapter setting to see if that stops it messing up.
