Ive had a mechanic here tonight. Cleaned my machione. Trouble is - it's already been into my address book and has possession of addresses. A rule seems to bne - if the subject header is one you would associate with me, then OK to open it. If not - don't.

Bob - anything you send me now will automatically be sent to my spam folder without being seen, so use PM on here when the need arises.

Had one from you today, it had a daft heading so I deleted it.

I appreciate these messages about PMs. I susperct that my probolems arose from me opening an email from a mate in all innocence, only to find it was inviting me to open a sales link. One such came from somneone who told me he had changed his address some moinths before but the spammers were using his old one. Once they've got your address book, they've got it for ever.

Bob, one of my lads suffered the same problem a couple of months ago, he was using Yahoo mail. Similar sales speil about a woman that lived in Haslingden - she didn't exist. The problem has now been solved so I will ask him what procedures he had to take,

Usually you have to run the attachment. Just getting the email and opening it wont effect your computer.

Have you changed your email password?
Move on to another email. If you are not using Gmail already, give it a try. Its the best IMO

Bob, Yahoo told my lad to change his PW - he did and there have been no further spoof emails rceived from him - got 4 from you yesterday, deleted all without opening, hope there was nothing genuine from you.

I too realised it was spam, and deleted it, without it being opened, but thanks for the warning.

I appreciate your advice. The matter is in the hands of my mechanic. A piece of preventive medicine that I ought to have had in place is to insert the name Aaaaa Aaaaa into your address box, with the address of [email protected] The burglar starts at the first address in your box and thus collects one which is not recognisable, and doesn';t proceed further. At leassdt that's the thought. I am not sure that anything is gopibng to be successfulk, as not long ago I received one from a pal which gave one addres . I phoned him and he said he had changed from that to another, such as aol, but the messages were still going out.
