Adobe Flash Player

Can anyone help. My flash player stopped working last week. I have tried to reinstall it. The download site said it had installed correctly, but I cannot find or use it. My system is Vista.

Frank, I think it's like Rob says, you don't open it yourself, it's opened by whatever application needs to use it, eg something like BBC iPlayer. I didn't understand it myself until my partner pointed it out to me recently.

Max........the best advice I can give you is change to Firefox. I have had fewer problems since I changed over from IE. It is a simple free download and is much smoother than IE.
I took some convincing, but I would never go back to IE now.

Download Mozilla Firefox Free

And there is a link for you.

I've tried FFOX and just can't get used to it at all Margaret, and I have it installed on my laptop, but rarely use it, I have to say I'm a slave to IE, because it hasn't let me down really

Well, I have not had any of the problems that both of you have had.
Retlaw, I know you are resistant to change because of the work you do with the WW1 records....but John...I'm surprised at you. I get fewer virus alerts and it all runs much smoother. I don't even have the same problems with Windows updates(these used to create problems when I used IE as a browser). I bless the day when Cashy, Garinda and Dave in Germany recommended firefox.
But fair play - if you have tried it and don't like it then so be it......I wouldn't have IE gift wrapped and hanging with diamonds(and I do like diamonds).

Margaret, you would worship the day you switched to Linux.... :D

Virus alerts? What the heck are they?

Re: Adobe Flash Player

Your tech related posts always make me laugh( i mean in a good way )

I could make it boring and go on forever about how you(from nerd point of view is totally wrong) but in reply I will simply say.

SOD IE (now im thinking of Steptoe and Son where they are playing Scrabble and he puts down SOD and then a debate persues whether or not it is swearing :) )

:P

Seriously though. All the work you do with the ww1 records which we all here should commend you for! and remembering all kinds of accy trivia. I doubt you really a working browser. just a good hard drive built to last the times

I'm not brave enough to install anything else in case I cock something else up. My son's friend is coming to have a look at it for me. Thankfully I can use my laptop. It hasn't got anthing else installed on it but what it came with.

Re: Adobe Flash Player

Frank you can download Firefox and run it alongside IE....so if you tried it and really didn't like it you could revert back to IE. It gives you a choice of browser.
I felt exactly the same about changing....I was worried I would be out of the frying pan and into the fire, but it was one of the best decisions ever.

Hehe, I could say put and kettle Margaret! ;-) in the same way Linux can be installed alongside windows so you can switch back and fourth.....

Re: Adobe Flash Player

Yes I know Ian....I downloaded Linux onto a memory stick with the intention of doing just that.......with my laptop......OS Vista(hateful OS)...but my daughter doesn't seem to mind it....but when she does...I am ready to go...and have a go:)
