Bt Internet

Is anyone else having problems logging on to BT Broadband this evening?

Sparkologist 29-11-2004 18:35

Re: Bt Internet

Nope. I got straight on, no problems.

In the words of Oates, "I'm just stepping outside. I may be a while."
I will log off, then sign on again, just out of curiosity. :D

None at all A-B but please take into account that I'm in Blackpool......

Re: Bt Internet

I'm back, A.B.

I haven't experienced any problems logging on to BT Broadband tonight. But It can be a temperamental swine at times. :(

Re: Bt Internet

Over the past couple of weeks I have been having an intermittent problem. The modem for reasons best known to itself will drop the line and then claim that it cannot find a dialling tone. Since five thirty this evening I have managed to log on in three to four minute bursts. Needless to say you cannot get hold of BT-Yahoo helpdesk to report the fault. "Your call is really important to us" yeah, Right!

Re: Bt Internet

Doug, according to BT your dialing code 01253 is one they are having problems with this evening.

Not in the slightest, normally I would help, but the last time some-one asked for help, I & a few others were accused of being a little symplistic with our answers, so rather than give that person a chance of another dig (yes, Dig not Doug), I won't try to be helpful anymore!

:blink8:

Thanks for that Sparkologist, I was begining to think that it was something I was doing wrong.

Nope, no problems with mine A-B. That is our dialing code, but I've been happily logging on and off all day and I currently have 3 windows open on the net and downloading info from the department of Health with no problems.........up to now, famous last words and all that.

As I have already stated, I do not wish to help, but 2 weeks (or was it a fortnight ago?), I had a similar prob, ran BT'S fault finder thingy prog' it gave me a list of results ending with ring our premium rate site. The fool that I am I rang 50p per min 10 mins later you will have to ring microsoft. Microsoft yes we know the problem, can we have your credit card details, why? (I stupidly asked ) because before I answer we have to charge you £45 + V.A.T.
I declined re-installed bt's broadband disk have had no problem since!

Thanks Chaps!

Well the damn thing seems to have settled down now. But I think that the next time this happens I will be ringing BT to ask for a migration code. I'm off to Pipex. The system at BT has never been the same since they sold it to Yahoo.

Thanks for the advice Less, even though, of course, you didn't give give any, it was much appreciated nonetheless.:D

Re: Bt Internet

With regards to migrating - if you are with Tiscali you will have to pay £50 to move to another ISP.

I wanted to join Zen Internet (because after doing some research they topped a lot of subjects, like customer service and ease of connection, for example), but when I found out I had to pay £50, it kind of puts you off.

Which I guess is exactly what Tiscali want.

I shall send a letter to Which? and see what they have to say about it

Acrylic-bob 30-11-2004 08:44

Re: Bt Internet

More problems this morning. So I have re-intalled the drivers to see if that has any effect. We shall see.

Migrating to Pipex sounded like a good idea because they pick up the moving fee.

Six hours of phone calls later and not one ha'porth of change. I now have to sit and wait for an engineer to call sometime in the next forty-eight hours.

On the back of their bill Bt say they aim to offer a "first class service", My shiny pink backside!

Re: Bt Internet

So an hour and a half ago, I hooked up the modem to the old computer, which runs Win98. No Problems! No dropped line! What does this mean? Is the vastly expensive laptop now to be considered as having "gone up the pictures"?

ive been on bt. broadband for nearly 2 yrs now , no probs.

Re: Bt Internet

Sorry your having so many problems A-B. I have to agree with Mez, I've be on Bt Broadband for a long time now and never had a problem. Hope thing improve for you. :)

Re: Bt Internet

This is so Damn annoying. The thing has been behaving itself since five oclock, and on the laptop too. It makes no sense at all.

Re: Bt Internet

I can sympathise with your frustration A-b and hope you find a suitable solution one way or the other.

I've never used BT. Have been on AOL for a good few years now and I know people knock it but I've been very happy with it and find the "after sales service" to be very helpful.

Acrylic-bob 01-12-2004 07:39

Re: Bt Internet

Back on the laptop this morning without any problems. So clearly it isn't the computer that is faulty. ? ? ? ? ?

Re: Bt Internet

Certainly doesn't sound like it. Don't let them fob you off that it is - that's as bad as Hyndburnlife blaming people and their cookies for the inability to register.

No problems whatsoever, Mick. I went on-line at 5:15pm

It fired up first time. If anything, it appeared to boot up faster than normal.

Re: Bt Internet

I had trouble with AOL earlier today. I was online and left the house to do an errand, came back and the connection had been lost. Phoned up AOL as the error message advised and got through to a person who told me his name was "Sam" (which I doubted but didn't argue). After discussing my date of birth and mother's maiden name he decided there had been a "problem with saoofhhahhafoowaaahhaa" in this area to day. When I asked him to repeat that as I hadn't quite caught what he said he told me "There has been a problem in your area with the AOL sooahhaaafaaawahhhaaa today".

By that time, as I was continually trying to log on. I made it onto AOL and informed him that I was now online OK and he said he couldn't understand me and hung up!

I phoned again, got someone whose name wasn't Alan ( why do they do that?) who decided we needed to repair my connectivity. Having done that everything is now apparently hunky dorey.

Why am I telling you this? I was just wondering if maybe you might also be having problems with your "sooohaafaaahaaawaaahaaaa".

vorlon24 18-01-2005 22:26

Re: Bt Internet

My connection has been slow for the past couple of days - pages on this forum are taking awhile to load up, and yesterday I had real problems getting online.

I thought it was my ISP, but as everyone else is having problems, it may not be Tiscali (just for a change!)
