Tell me about it!

I rebuilt a friend's machine, installed the AV and Firewall and connected to install the upgrades.

The AV didn't recognise the virus that hit as it was made before the virus was :mad:

I had to get rid of the virus by deleting various files and fiddling with the registry.

A word of warning: if you need to make changes to the registry, take a backup!

OOOOh it all sounds very scary to me.......I wish I knew more about the internal machinations of this box that I rely on for so much.
As for starting from scratch.......the scratching would be me......on me head!

I'm going to be brave and try something new.

Having made that decision I had a kerfuffle with AOL tonight and anything like that unnerves me a bit.

well i survived the difficult task as you put it....wish we could all be computer freaks like you....Thanks to everyone else for the help..seems to be running ok now:cool:
