Re: Networking cable
And using a USB ADSL modem?
You are better with an ADSL router but you can share you internet connection from your PC to the other one. You need your PC switched on for the other one to access the internet if you are sharing. With a router either will access the internet independently |

Re: Networking cable
Try it with internet connection sharing then, there is no cost involved then :). You need a crossover cable if you are connecting 2 PC's together.

Re: Networking cable
How are you going to run the cable from one PC to the other? Under the carpet? The plugs are quite big on the ends so you wont want to drill holes to thread the cable through.

Re: Networking cable
What sort of spec is the old PC? It might not be fast enough for XP or enough memory in it etc.

Re: Networking cable
Our work PC's have SP2 and keep updating themselves and restarting as well. I am not impressed when my machine monitoring PC restarts itself because I loose data from machines. Why are IT dept's full of s*** ?
