Re: Printer
We use an Epson Photo R200 The ink is a lot cheaper than HP. The photo's it prints are excellent and it prints directly onto CD/DVD's as well.
I also have a HP 990c which doesn't get used anymore as the ink is a stupid price, it prints on both sides of the paper which is very clever. |
Re: Printer
I have an Epson c44 as i know they do last & are a good make, i had a lexmark for less than 1 day & took it back cheap to buy but inks were not included & thats where they make their money on expensive ink, with my printer its so cheap on ink cartridges ;):D

Re: Printer
Epson Photo 830. Excellent photo quality, very reliable & cheap cartridges (£4 black, £6 colour). I also use "Inksaver", brilliant little program.

Re: Printer
Epson R300, same a s 200 but with card reader built in, tried all kinds of printers but never found one as good as the R series, even takes cheap refils with good results.
Had this about 2 year now with no trouble - touchwood When its time for a change I will be going for another Epson, prob an R1800 which is an A3 printer with same ink technology as the 300 |
Re: Printer
I've got an Epson and an HP. Of the two I prefer the HP.
|
Re: Printer
Mines an Epson Photo stylus 915 had if for a few years. Inks not too bad it depends on how many photos i print.
|
Re: Printer
I've got HP. I also have an Epson but it's a big old all singing all dancing thing which won't fit on/under/near the desk so I just use it as a photocopier.

Re: Printer
I have got HP Deskjet 3745 which came free with the computer. Have had over a year and it's just starting to run low on colour ink!!
|
Re: Printer
You've obviously not got kids like mine printing things willy-nilly. :)

Re: Printer
I have a HP 1210 PSC.....I bought it because I had previously had an Epson which was a pig of a thing....it would break down at the drop of a hat...and this was at a time when I needed it for course work. I vowed and declared that I would never have another Epson. My HP isn't too expensive for ink......I buy my cartidges over the internet and only buy them when they are on offer...like 2 for the price of one.....I buy HP compatibles and they have something like 3mls more ink in each cartridge.....that may not sound a lot but I find it works out well for me.

I'm looking for another cheap Epson printer at the moment, has anyone got any suggestions please? :D |
Re: Printer
Personally I don't use a printer at home. If I have a letter or anything I print it at work (but even this is very rare). Any photos I just walk into Garth Dawsons with teh memory card, select what I want printing and go back 20 mins later. Quality pics that you won't get out of a home printer for pennies each. It really isn't worth messing about at home
IMHO I would never bother getting a home printer, you can get stuff printed far cheaper and better quality at the professionals |
Re: Printer
I hardly ever use mine either. I'm looking for another one for my Niece's though.
:) |

Re: Printer
Well Anne got a Epson 240 Printer for her 50th Birthday thanks to Accyweb members .
It take 4 ink cartridges so i Went for a walk down blackburn road and all the computer shops that sell them said it would be £8-£10 a set about £2 each which is a lot cheaper than the 1 cartridge for her HP which was anything upto £40 |
Re: Printer
One thing to note though, the printers that have expensive cartridges are because they include ths print head on the cartridge so you effectively get a 'new' printer each time you replace them. The cheaper ones have integrated heads so teh quality will degrade over time, then its new printer time.
You pays your money and takes your chioce. As for MH, a lot of places will print letters etc for you, you really don't need a printer for teh odd one, if you do a lot then fair enough, as its once is a blue do-dah for me its not worth it. Prices in GDs vary on what size prints you want, IIRC, 6x4s for over 100 piccys is about 7p each (Yes you can get them slightly cheaper elsewhere, this normally takes a day or two ) TBH I prefer to support my local independant camera shop who is able to advise me when I need help with something. so much so I'm waiting for my new camera, Canon EOS 400D, from GDs as opposed to going and getting one from an internet supplier, price is within £20 and I know he'll spend time with me if I need to know how to do something or if I'm making a mistake he'll explain what I'm doing wrong. |
Re: Printer
I love my EOS. :) I've always loved Canons anyway.
For a good quality photo I'd get it printed by GD but I do write plenty of letters (mostly to school for various assorted reasons.) and the girls always have something they need to print out for homework so we'd be lost without one (or two);) |
