the loo sounds good at least I would get some peace in there:

I was looking at a few in the cash converters down town.... 3 months ticket on them, however you would not know where they have some from and what could be on them:
anyone used them ?

Does anyone actually find that place cheap, I always think the stuff looks expensive for 2nd hand goods.

magpie 15-02-2007 07:08

Re: lap top note book wanted

the price for a lap top was £200 : Lancs Dave no I don't think they are that cheap, having said that sometime they have a few bargains in: not bad on the price of tools and they have some DVD's:

Mick 15-02-2007 07:09

Re: lap top note book wanted

The stuff in there is Very expensive in there for the price of there laptop's £350+ second hand you can buy a a new one in woolies .
I got this one its a Medion i have had no problems with it not the fastest of laptops but it does what i want and its wireless .
in cash converters
There was a computer in there selling with monitor for £400 ok it had a 15ins flat monitor with it but i had seen the desktop on its own for £90

accymel 15-02-2007 07:54

Re: lap top note book wanted

They are very expensive in cash converters, plus he specs on them are very basic so cant be sure of what u are getting, the laptops i saw in there was quite expensive as mick says u can get a new one with guarentee for a bit xtra on the price.

entwisi 15-02-2007 08:11

Re: lap top note book wanted

Magpie, why do you need teh net to show them your website? You should have a copy of it on your PC locally. just use that to show them.

The other point is that just cause the laptop is wireless you still need some form of internet access point within ~100m.

I'll keep my ears open for anyone at work selling one for you.

I think you need to look into how you will connect to the net when you are out and about working.
Is there a wireless hotspot where you will be working?
Are you going to connect through your mobile phone? (you might need your own personal oil well to pay the phone bill if you do depending on your phone contract)

WillowTheWhisp 15-02-2007 08:31

Re: lap top note book wanted

If you want to show the website to people who have PCs can't you just log into it from their PC - or is there something I'm missing?

entwisi 15-02-2007 08:58

Re: lap top note book wanted

I think they want to show it to the market traders whilst down there hence my comment about just running the site locally on the laptop

magpie 15-02-2007 11:48

Re: lap top note book wanted

ah yes:

well I need to show market traders and so on their ads on my site:

( don't need the net for that)

plus I work away from home so it would be handy:

should have said what I wanted it for: one of those day's weeks then again month:

Desktop on its own for £90 quid , where can i find that amazing deal? Im in the same boat as magpie because i need a wireless laptop but very cheap and i cant seem to find one. Someone told me the other day about there being some cheap computers at the old time building but im not sure they do. Can anyone help?

entwisi 15-02-2007 18:50

Re: lap top note book wanted

don't go to Time, they are teh rubbish left over.

2nd hand laptops are rare and hold their value as Students will buy pretty much anything that goes.

your best bet is to try and get the £350ish together for a new one with warranty.

magpie 15-02-2007 20:08

Re: lap top note book wanted

Time: hm did they take over from TINY I got ripped off with a pc from TINY
or rather Tough It's Now Yours:

Re: lap top note book wanted

Yeh well someone told me that they where selling computers cheap at the time building but i didnt like tiny really. Ive got a very good computer now which the family bought for over a grand its an all in one computer so the monitor is the computer. Anyway i want a laptop to take around the house and things but dont want to spend so much. Like i saw the advent laptops in pc world for £300 at christmas but i was thinking if you could get one of them second hand then it would be even cheaper.

magpie 15-02-2007 20:30

Re: lap top note book wanted

you would have thought if you did not want vista they would be selling off old ( ish) ones cheap: but I am not finding that: I was thinking about DELL but gave up with all the small print: I need a new brain now having tried to read it al:

Re: lap top note book wanted

There's some in Woollies for about £350 but I don't know how good they are.

A desktop where the monitor is the PC? I've never seen that. It sound very much like a laptop with a separate keyboard. Where do they sell them?

There's a stall on Blackburn market which does reconditioned laptops and a shop which I can't tell you the address of but I know how to get there which sometimes has some very cheap ones but you gets what you pays for.

Yes Willow the monitor well the screen is attached to the slim tower which is at the back of the screen. Got it from pc world. Was very expensive, wished we shouldnt of bought it for what it was but does everything got a remote to watch tv its not bad.

Maybe Thursdays and Sundays when the 'flea market/car boot' type stalls are on? I haven't seen them on market days.

Mick 16-02-2007 10:19

There is nothing much on a thursday and what there is is very old and rubbish dont bother .

I could say have a look on the Accrington Market Web Site:
but I won't say that:) :) :) :) ;) ;) ;)

Re: lap top note book wanted

With all due respect I would avoid buying anything like this off a market stall holder who isn't permanent. Unless of course you want to take a chance !!

I'll get them online this afternoon. I've actually got three base units to sell which I have picked up for people who asked me to find them a PC but then patience gets the better of them or they spend the money before I get them

Not the cheapest and not the dearest but I'm a firm beleiver that if you want to spend a few hundreds pounds on something like a PC then get it from somewhere you can take it back and they will sort it out if something is wrong. More importantly they actually know what they are talking about, which probably eliminates all the high st nationals lol

Known the lads for a few years since they started out selling C64 & Spectrum games so been around the block a few times :D

Very true. Our boss got the office pc from PC World just before we opened. It's rubbish.

:)

The thing that bugs me about PC World is when you ask them a question and they look at you like you're speaking Martian or something.
