How do I do a screenshot?
I had some problems with someone on my pc a few months back and someone was doing screen shots as a way of showing me what I should be doing, does anyone know how I do these please?

What do you use for editing images? you might not even have anything installed, if you haven't use windows paint from start-all programs-accessories-paint

Re: How do I do a screenshot?
If you want some quite powerful Image editing software for FREE then may I recommend "The GIMP"
Download it here http://gimp-win.sourceforge.net/ Install this first http://downloads.sourceforge.net/gim....6-1-setup.zip then this http://downloads.sourceforge.net/gim...86-setup-1.zip (you need to download the zips then run the installer inside it) |
Re: How do I do a screenshot?
You running Windows XP? have you got the disk?
|
Re: How do I do a screenshot?
If it needs installing go to
Start-control panel-add remove programs On the left menu select "add remove windows components" "Accessories and details" and click "Details" "accessories" and click "details" Put a tick in "Paint" OK Not sure but I think it will ask for your windows disk |
Re: How do I do a screenshot?
A nice free easy to use bit of software is Irfanview
|
Re: How do I do a screenshot?
Have you found 'Paint' yet?
|
Re: How do I do a screenshot?
I'm just downloading irfanview now. It says you can do slideshows too so hoping I can incorporate them in my Ebay listings too

Re: How do I do a screenshot?
How cool! I've managed to copy and paste it into Irfanview - next question how do I copy and paste it onto a website? Sorry I'm just not technical in teh least!

Re: How do I do a screenshot?
I've never actually used Irfanview so I'll leave that one for somebody who has.

Re: How do I do a screenshot?
You save the image in IrfanView as a JPG. Then it depends on the website you are trying to post it to. You need to either attach it to a post (most forums will let you do this up to a certain file size) or you need to host the image somewhere. as in webspace. Most ISPs give you a small amount to use or there are places like Flickr, PBase, etc that will give you unlimited photo hosting for ~£13/year. Ebay offer hosting of images at a certain price/image. You should consider how much Ebay ing you do and how many images/year as it may be cheaper to pay Flickr. (IIRC Ebay charge 12p/image so it looking like over 100 images(not auctions) per year and its cheaper to use Flickr)

heh, is is rather an unfortunate acronym for what is a rather excellent and powerful piece of software.

So it's nothing to do with hosting images or anything then? |
Re: How do I do a screenshot?
MissT said that she had managed to cut n shut it into IFV. I got the impression that its sat at that stage ie. that she doesn't know that it needed to be saved as a file on her PC such that could then be either attached to a post or hosted somewhere.
Not at that point. when it comes to hosting pictures etc thats a completely different stage. PCs, easy aren't they! |
Re: How do I do a screenshot?
Ok thats great, thanks for your help guys!

Re: How do I do a screenshot?
I was just trying to clarify what Irfanview is/does as I have never used it myself.
So after you do what you've done with it, be it resize or create a slideshow or whatever you then save the finished article onto your PC from where you can upload it to t'internet. If it's small enough then uploading direct to AccyWeb is easy enough. 'Go Advanced', then click on 'Manage Attachments' and when the new window opens click 'Browse' under where it says 'Upload File from your Computer', choose the relevant file and click on 'upload' which will then upload the image as an attachment. If you want to paste it in the body of the post you need the properties of the uploaded attachment which you find by clicking on the name under where it says 'Current Attachments'. Copy that. Then go into the text of your post, click on the little image above the box, the one that looks like pyramids against a yellow sky and in the box which opens paste the URL which you copied. Make sure that you don't leave the http:// in which is already there because you'll have got that already in your copy and you don't want it twice. For eBay you'll need to use a separate hosting service. Most people opt for photobucket as it's very user friendly. |
