HP printer scanner thingy

i've been bought an HP printer scanner photo copier thingy for christmas, but it seems to be missing the wire that goes from the printer to the pc, what are they called and where do i get one from?

its brand new and he got it from argos, should it have one in with the rest of the stuff or not?

More and more these days, things like this are an additional extra, printer cable should have come with your computer originally. So up in the loft with you and find all your bits. haha

It's a Universal Serial Bus, (USB) cable that you need any reputable and also lots of the not so reputable computer shops should be able to supply you with one and they aren't expensive.

I've never seen a PC that came with a USB cable for a printer.

PS, there are 3 types of USB plug(A B and mini). Usually a printer cable has type A on one end and a B on the other.

I overheard someone in Argos yesterday buying a HP, teh Argos cable was > 50% of the price of the printer

You should get one for under a fiver

Why do they sell them without the cables? I suppose if you are replacing an existing printer with a new one you'd already have a cable and another one would be surplus to requirements.

Hiya,

HP never ship a printer with a cable. If you go down to pc cellular or kings on Blackburn road and ask for a printer cable, they will sort one out for about 3 quid i think

neither do epson, canon, lexmark, oki, olivetti..........

It does seem strange that they get away with selling something without the things needed to use it. They don't even mark on teh box in big letters "We're cheap so you need to buy a cable extra"

A USB lead must only cost them a few pennies, CPC do them for about a quid I don't think most people would mind a printer costing 50p extra if it came with the cable you need.
