Does anybody else have this problem

I have had a computer now for around 17 years, and I still know sod all about them. I have always had a desktop, but last year I got myself a laptop. The one difference I find is that when I type on the laptop I find that i often misses printing a letter, thats why occasionally in my post there are words with letters missing i. e. tme instead of time or hav instead of have, does any body else have this problem?

It's the keyboard. Laptop keyboards seem to have a different level of sensitivity. They keyboard I have on my desktop is very similar to a laptop one and I find it difficult typing on someone else's PC because I'm used to my own which is hardly different between laptop and desktop.

I find laptops much harder to type, I tend to hit 2 at a same time, probably because they are flatish, prefer my old keyboard to be honest:)

Yea my first one was Amstrad wordprocessor which I got from a place on Abbey Street, but I could have got an ordinary pc at the time. I got my first desk top in 1995 from a firm in Blackburn, I think I've had 6 now, including my laptop, which I got from Dell, as I was so impressed with their desktops

My first computer was an zx81 in yep 1981. :D

Laptop keyboards are naturally flatter although they often have small legs at the back to tilt them slightly. I persoanlly prefer laptop keyboards to desktops but then I've always been a bit weird(my mum called it 'special' :D )

Hi Entwistle
I had one of them zx81's, I think I bought it as a kit from Maplin Electronics.
Had various computers over the years, my first desk top had a 40 meg hard drive & two floppy drives a 5 1/4 and 745K. Was told at the time 40 meg would take some filling, had to by a 2nd hard drive on a card not long after. As for keyboards had this one for donkeys years, I treat it gently
because its special and does things an ordinary keyboard won't do.
I would still like to learn more about the secrets of some programs and what makes them tick.
Retlaw.

I have a laptop and a desktop - I prefer the laptop for browsing but my typing is so bad on it - plus you tend to lean on the touchpad when Im typing and mess everything up :(

My first PC was a 286 with 1 Meg RAM, a 20 meg HD and a monochrome screen. I sold it to buy Julies engagement ring.

desktop vs laptop is just what your used to. I've had laptops at work for > 9 years now so its second nature to me.

Re Retlaw, Programming is just logic, nothing more than breaking stuff down into less and less complex tasks. At root level its all either addition or subtraction(using AND, OR, NOT etc) . There is very little else a computer can do, it can just lots of them very quickly :D.
