Please Help - emamums pc broken
 

Please can someone help. Em's pc is not working. It boots up then switches itself back off. She has tried system restore and it wouldnt do it.

Think she may be suicidal lol

hiya, ive got it working in safe mode but not normally.. erm... could it be a virus?

Now that you've managed to get it into 'safe mode', have you tried a restore point?

Less, she's tried system restore (it would only let her do this in safe mode) but still no joy, it seems fine and then when she re-boots it its back to what it was before the restore

lol, i said the same to her, had to ring her to make sure she was ok, was worried when i didnt see her online lol

done virus scan and will still only work in safe mode...

someones offered to come take a look but cant till friday.... is it ok for me to use it in safe mode?

To save a little time, what operating system are you on? if it's xp do you have the disk?

If yes to the above, then,
boot from the disk, (wait for ages, and ages and.....), then enter the recovery console by pressing "R" and type in "Fixboot" (without the quotes)
This may not work but its worth a try because system restore isn't doing anything.

sorry Less, i dont have the disc.....and its xp.. someones said it might need wiping.

if you have a dial up connection to the internet then i would check your phone bill
if you have broadband however then it should be fine

crappy badass companies used to be able to reboot your system through a trojan or something over dial up connections

so beware x
