Is this a a good deal?
BT are offering me a broadband anywhere phone for an extra £5 a month on top of my existing broadband deal.
It has unlimited downloads with wi-fi inside and outside, 10mb out of wi-fi,50 call minutes and 50 texts to any network per month, phone is said to be worth £150 and has MP3 and camera. Being a numpty I don't know if this a bargain or a scam, would I use all the braodband/email stuff? Any advice? |
Re: Is this a a good deal?
I got the same flyer today.
You have to re-sign up for another 18 months. I though sod it why not only a extra £5 per month. Got it coming with 5 days.:) The lady compaired it to a blackberry phone. I like to have ebay to hand, come usefull when looking at suposed bargains. Plus the advantage of MSN, emails ect. And of course Accy Web.:D |
Re: Is this a a good deal?
I've only been on contract with them since Dec for my broadband so re-signing isn't a biggie; think I might go fot it but would like to know more about the phone, d'ya reckon that pic on the flyer is actual size ?

Re: Is this a a good deal?
Cheers Mr d but it doesn't matter now, I rang BT and after 10 mins on hold apparently I failed the credit check! The half wit on the phone couldn't tell me why but when I asked if it had anything to do with my address she went quiet..... I moved in last November and there are nasty looking letters arriving for the previous occupant by the sackful !
A little annoying as they were keen enough to sign me up for broadband but hey ho. |

If you want it I would ring back and ask for an explanation, especially if you had been with Bt on broadband for a while. After all its a freephone number. |
Re: Is this a a good deal?
She said I could reapply in 6 months , that makes me think it was the address, I gave my previous address but the woman there before me had done a runner so that probably made things worse hehehe !
Not that bothered tbh but it's annoying that they are keen enough for me to have a home hub and broadband ! |

It would bother me, I think i would have to email customer support and complain. But thats just they way i am. Managed to get a Sky + box today as a Upgrade for £17.00 installed, all it took was 20 mins on the phone politely winging.;) |
Re: Is this a a good deal?
Fair point Mr D, I thought about it and have now fired off a shirty email !:)

Re: Is this a a good deal?
It is the cheekiness that has wound me up , they were happy to take my money for broadband and a land line in Dec last year and I pay by direct debit, never missed. Seems like a way to attract new customers, my 18 month contract is obviously not good enough.

Which is as it should be. Why should you be penalised just because someone who happened to live in your house before you got themselves into bad debt? |
Re: Is this a a good deal?
Dunno Lilly, but I had bailiffs turn up at my old address looking for the previous tenant, I had to show them my passport before they would go ! And I know that the girl here before me had a few problems, and judging by the growing pile of Littlewoods correspondence, still does !
You would think I was a pretty safe bet since I pay them £80 every 3 months for my internet and stuff. |

Phone Sky, best to ask for the turnaround department, or at least get someone who seems sound on the phone, if you get a muppet hang up and ring back. Advise Sky that you have been offered a BT vision Box from BT for "free" and why should I pay to watch sky, especially when the misses watches it the most and you cant watch your channels. I also added the fact my DVD recorder has just broken.;) Now they will offer a discounted price to begin we and waffel some sales pitch usually the first offer is £50.00 for the lot. They then offered me a FREE upgrade and installation as long as I signed up from my £21 per month to a £38.00 per month package Inc Movies or Sports, I said I dont watch movies or sports and that to me is nearly £200 a year which isnt Free, after a bit of a debate I was advised that I would only have to upgrade for 1 month the drop back to my orgional package at £21.00. Bring on Sky Plus - I was also told its the latest box which you can record two channels whist watching a third. Bargain for £17.00. |
