Wireless Router
After some advice, will try and make sense but haven't got a clue how to word it or what it really is. My son has asked for a wireless router (think that's what it's called.) Our internet connection is broadband with virgin and it's through the set top box. I have looked on the virgin website for advice and to see if they sell them but can't find any info. Now what i need advice on is Can i buy one in a shop? Is there anything special i should be looking out for? Is it easy to connect? Have looked on different sites but have found them very confusing.
Thanks in advance |
Re: Wireless Router
I am with virgin and have a wireless "Netgear" router i bought works fine not had any problems and you get a disc with how to set it up its so simple.
virgin do supply routers though and if you do have problems with one you bought elsewhere they will not give you tec help only the one got from them has support. here is a link to virgin media shop wireless routers http://shopping.virginmedia.com/ctl/...&fromform=true |
Re: Wireless Router
Sara, be careful with that link Mick posted as some of the wireless routers are not suitable for your broadband connection. You need to make sure you do not buy one that is for ADSL.
Here are some that should be ok for you Tenda Wireless-G CableDSL Router - Ebuyer Belkin G Wireless Router - Ebuyer NETGEAR WGR614 Wireless-G Cable/DSL Router - Ebuyer Linksys by Cisco WRT54GL Wireless-G Linux Router - Ebuyer |

if i have had a tec problem they sorted it out in minuets i would not change |
Re: Wireless Router
Thanks for all advice. Rang virgin this morning and they're sorting it for us, at £2 extra a month and said it will be here within 4 - 5 working days. Just had phone call back from them and they said they'd made a mistake, something to do with our set top box. But they're coming out on the 28th to install whatever needs installing and because it's there mistake it won't cost us a penny not even the £2 a month. How good is that.
