That is simple to answer Neil,

Most of us use it, most of us have been cocked up by it,

But, just a friendly scream for help finds someone that struggled before with the same problem.

It would be wonderful if there was a better & simpler operating system, but there isn't.

I have and still will use Linux, but I won't push it down people's throats.
I certainly won't start a helpful thread about windows just to mention Linux.

entwisi, you aren't exclusive others have used linux.

If Linux is Sooo! good why not be proud of it instead of pushing it through the back door of a window's problem?

Start a thread and get people interested not dismayed in what they already have to put up with.

Eurghh didn't want to join in with this but the Windows is easier to get help with thing I can't let go, the Ubuntu forums are of the best technical help resources in the world today. For the average user, linux is easier to run, install it, connect to the web, updates come through automatically, 99% of all the programs are available using one little app. Any problems you do have, search the Ubuntu wiki and forums and the answer will be there, if not post and somebody will tell you what to do. The whole I have a mate who is good with computers thing in experience does more damage than good, a little bit of knowledge and all that.
