Online console gaming, PS2 or XBox?
 

I've got an Xbox and a PS2. I finally have broadband and now I am wondering which console to get connected up. My favourite type of games are driving and strategy, I'm not into halo and all that.. Has anyone any experience with one or the other online?

we to have both an x box and a ps2 roy and im getting broadband next week we will be connecting the x box my fella likes driving games n all that and it helps to know someone who has x box live. He likes it that much hes bought his son an x box for his room so they can go live together i dont know if this helps but i dont know anyone who has their ps2 on live!

I prefer my PC to consoles.

More versatile, and you just buy the joypads and steering wheel once!

The only console I have is my trusty SNES, and I only keep that for Donkey Kong Country

Hubby fights people all over world on WWE wrestling game and i like playing The Sims online, be good for Roy if he's into racing games, can sometimes get boring beating computer over and over again so gives you a chance to see how good you really are with people all over world and u can chat on it too. Novel idea but not sure yet if it will take off in a big way and it was quite expensive to set up.

I have pre-ordered GTA: San Andreas for £25. This game costs £5 more on play.com (£10 elsewhere).

So apart from being more versatile, you also get better value for money, because if San Andreas is anything like Vice City, Rockstar will have added a few 'tweaks' since November, so the game will be improved by the time it lands on my doormat on 10th June

yeah online gaming with ps2 is brillian.just hope more games come out were you are able to go on line with.

the easiest and most reliable online console gamiong is the xbox. It even integrates with MSN to tell you which friends are online

The Xbox online is far superior to the PS2, always has been always will be.

But as you have both, what I'd suggest you do is try them both to see what "you" think.

You can get 2 month demo's to let you on Xbox Live, (I don't know about PS2 version).
Then you can keep it or not.

It's only £19.99 for the whole year's live subscription at game at present & that includes the headset.

I have been on Xbox Live since it started, now I'm just so into it that I won't enjoy a game unless it's live.

the problem with ps2 is that it's all incosnsitent, differnet logins for different servers, some games run peer to peer without a server and they run like a dog. Xbox, all games run through server and use the samw login, makingt eh experience much easier, also downloadable content is more prevelant in xbox games due to the built in hard disk.

ytou require a plugin network adaptor to play online , plus have any of you guys checked out http://www.teamxlink.co.uk/index.php, using your pc as a portal and conning your console xbox,ps2,psp or whatever into thinking your using a multiplayer game, a good way of those naughty chipped xbox owners still being able to play online

xbox kicks ass online period wether it be thw official xbox live or tunnel software that lets you play online with no charges using your broadband connection through your pc

As an Xbox and PS2 owner, I can honestly say Xbox rules the PS2 online. PS2 online isn't even an afterthought, it's just awful. Anyone who loves PS2 online would think Xbox Live is amazing.

Seriously... Anyone who prefers online PS2 to Xbox Live has got to be lacking the full shilling.

Only thing good to say about PS2 is Eyetoy and Singstar. Everything else is better off on Xbox.

anyone thinking of gettting a ps3 over a xbox360 should also look at gaming / console review forums

sony got busted for using video footage on their ps3 instead of actual ingame graphics at a show because they knew the xbox360 was ahead of them

the only good thing i wills ay about sonys playstation is that they have more child orientated games but for the adult gamer the xbox 360 is a must over the ps3

if any of you wnat a really good online gaming experience. buy socom: combined assault. its a shooting kinda game but you play navy seals. you buy it with a headset and you can talk to 16 people on your team. theres cars to drive, lots of guns to use and its realistic. its a good community seeing has you can talk to everyone you play against or with.

When the PS3 comes down in price it will better the 360. Only thing it's lacking is games but that will change.

PS3 online is free, yet Resistance holds its own against Halo 2 (and Halo 2 isn't even Hi-Def) and also on Resistance you can have more players online than H2.

Blu Ray is fantastic with a decent Hi Def television.

Hard-drive is bigger and as standard, 360 cores don't have a hard drive so devs can't make use of them in any case.

PS3 fan is a lot less intrusive than the 360's noisy fan and drive spinning.

Recent 1.80 update to PS3 makes it one of the best DVD upscalers around. It makes good quality DVD's look very good in high definition. It really is magic. Also you can play media from your Mac or PC, and rip none copy protected material to the hard drive.

I get far more use out of the PS3 than I do the 360. Probably because it does more things.

to be fair halo 2 was released for the xbox - wait a month two for halo 3 to come out and that'll b the one to compare resistance with

whats hittin sony the worst is microsofts deep pockets

they've recently paid rockstar north 50m to give the 360 extra content over the ps3 for the new gta IV game

which will b a MAJOR enticement to the fans of the series
