Liverpool defend European Cup.

It had to happen. UEFA have sanctioned Liverpool to defend their title as Champions of Europe.

should think so as well- they are in the qualifying round but that seems fair to me.

No country protection, starting at 1st qualifying round, less money from TV for all 5 clubs involved.

It sounds fair to me, a compromise that should be acceptable to all except Man Utd supporters who are already whinging. We welcome the "No country protection", the thought of knocking Everton or Man Utd out in an early round would be great, remember we defeated Chelsea on our way to the cup.

The best news of the new season although I would love to knock out Scum USA or the Scouse pretenders it would be more fun if both were knocked out by iggly wiggly utd from port rush or no name city from wales.

"The UEFA Executive Committee decided to amend the regulations for the future editions of the Champions League, so that the holders will have the right to defend their title and therefore qualify automatically. At the same time, the number of clubs allowed per national association will remain stable based on coefficient ranking.

"Exceptionally, for the upcoming season, the executive committee today decided to allow the current Champions League holders to defend their title.
