Well it don't really surprise me about footballers, they just put things lke this down to "having a laugh" whats betting they get away with a slapped wrist, and of course their "people" will try comming up wth excuses, to justify their behavier. Its time an example was made of idiots like this, but i'm no holding my breath

Re: Disgraceful Footballers

Whether or not the barmaids are "bought off" by the footballers or their clubs in an attempt to prevent a "scandal" the police should prosecute them.

The evidence is there for all to see, they should be brought before the court and punished

If it was any other member of the public - they would be arrested and charged -- I urge the police to do it now - there should not be one law for them and another for anyone else - theft is theft

They can do something else like join Burnley University ;):D

But seriously, they are extremely privileged people and have abused their position gravely.
They think they have a right to treat decent & honest people who work for their wage (not play a game) like muck.
They do not deserve the privilege of earning so much money for playing a game because they do not have the responsibility (or human decency) to match the bank balance.
I know many other top flight footballers don't have much responsibility and are daft gets, but come on - these footballers weren't getting daft hair cuts and wearing sarongs; they were acting like scum.

I agree Shakermaker .. should be written into their contract. These are high profile personalities, getting paid ridiculous amounts of money for kicking a ball about on a field with a target of a small netted area on both ends .. uh! ... Have a huge influence on young minds and a huge influence to their behaviour. If they get away with, others will think an OK thing to do.

Can you imagine the uproar if Gordon Brown or Prince Harry had done this ... people would have been shouting "Off with their heads". Well, dump their football shoes in the canal is what I say and 'Goodbye to Bad Rubbish' !!!

Unbelievable. :(

There's some useless excuses for humans on the pitch these days. Trashley Cole for one and now these scumbags.

They think they're God these days.

yeh i said nail the theiving scumbags no problem, but i can act like scum, burgle yer house, get caught do 6 months or community service n come out n earn a living, athletes who win medals through drug enhancement get banned, but not for life, not saying thats better than robbing someones personal goods, but it has more influence on young kids i would think, these scumbags should get 3/6months (they wont) but cannot agree on a life ban.

Thats a bit too far especially banned for life!. The police will sort them out and should get everything that a normal person would get for that, just because they are footballers doesnt mean that they shouldnt be treated differently.

The thing is you wouldn't have seen the true stars of yesterday behaving like that, the likes of Bryan Douglas, Jimmy Mac, Tom Finney, Bobby Charlton, were ambassadors for football on and of the field and were payed peanuts by comparison

Well steeljack I'm one of them and I do remember the "Doug" or Shayanne as he was nick named (not sure thats how you spell it) the only thing I can remmber him doing was asking for a transfer on the eve of the 1960 F.A. Cup Final, and playing even though he was injured, mind you I was only 13 at the time and if he was doing other naughties I may not have heard about them:rolleyes:, or wanted to hear about them:D or actually knowing what they were talking about, I live a very sheltered childhood you understand;)

Two footballers quizzed by police
Two footballers have been arrested over allegations of theft at a nightclub.

Championship club Southampton FC confirmed its striker Bradley Wright-Phillips and winger Nathan Dyer had been detained on Tuesday.

Hampshire Constabulary told BBC News that a 20-year-old man and 23-year-old man were currently being questioned.

The arrests follow an investigation into allegations of theft at the Bar Blu nightclub in Portsmouth, a police spokesman said.

Dougans nick name was cheyenne, after a character in a western series staring Clint Walker. made his debut against Arsenal away March 14th 1959 made a total of 76 games in all competions scoring 34 goals, after the 1960 cup final his form dipped and was transfered to Aston Villa in August 1961 for £15,000

An amusing update on this one. As Dyer was coming on as sub at yesterdays game, the operators of the big screen at Southampton decided to display a messages to the fans while there was a break in play;

" Please remember to look after your valuables " was the message

Bad timing or coincidence ? :D

Don't know if anybody noticed one of these players, Nathan Dyer has now been given 60 hours community service for his part in the crime.

Apparently the judge decided to be lenient after finding out Dyer had been sentenced to a new 3 year contract at Southampton yesterday :D
