Joey Barton - role model
If I punched a colleague to the ground at my place of work, I have no doubt that I would be instantly sacked. Do you think that Barton should receive the same treatment ?

Re: Joey Barton - role model
its disgusting!
How many children look up to these idiots? they will follow their example and thats not what we need atm, our children need good role models.. I did a survey on children in one of the classes i worked in and asked them what they wanted to be when they grow up (it was meant to show influences in childrens lives) and most of them said footballer, singer, on telly....what happened to wanting to be police officers, fire fighters, teachers, doctors and nurses THESE are the kind of people that children should be looking up to and wanting to be like... the real heroes!!!! wasnt there a footballer not long back that admitted that he didnt do his GCSE'S and hardly ever went to school (i dont know the names of most footballers) yeah!! thats a great thing to be telling kids! |

Man City should have sacked him bu then he would have been a free agent and they wouldn't have got a few million for him. It may be cynical but football is no ordinary business as we all know. |

Shakermaker said
'Newcastle can't sack him on those grounds. Barton assaulted a colleague while under contract with Manchester City, not Newcastle.' So in the cynical world of football, just as Man City wanted to cash in on their 'asset', Newcastle will, no doubt, have wanted to protect their investment. If Barton has given them his guarantee that it was self defence and now has changed his toon (sorry!) and admitted his guilt then they have grounds for sacking him. |
Re: Joey Barton - role model
agree reamer, but same as city - newcastle will probably want to cash in on the yob as well.
