It's not often that Canadians get to talk about football, except that Toronto FC are doing a lot better in the MLS .... but how about those Canadian women at the Olympics .... they won their first game against Argentina 2-1:dancedog::dancedog::dancedog: Not only that, this is the first game they have ever won at the Olympics, and the first time they have scored in competition at this level ..... way to go girls:theband:

Could the reason be that they've changed from wearing iceskates to football buts thats made the difference Eric:D

Cute .... when the Canadian women play hockey they win every time .... they just show up, take the gold medal and watch the also ran's play for the silver and bronze:D .... but this is football, something that we are not noted for ... but these women are tough ....they wrestle grizzly bears in training, and beat baby seals to death with rattlesnakes for a little light entertainment:D

A 2-1 loss to the Swedes .... but the Canadian girls are thru the preliminary round and will face the USA ... these teams have quite a rivalry. In the last meeting the yanks won in a penalty shoot out .... anyhow, this is the first time the girls have made it too the Olympics and whatever the result, all Canada should be proud of their efforts.

It's that 9 and a half million sq. km north of 49 .... stretches five and a half time zones .... you can't miss it.;) In winter, we paint it white so that even people from Ossy can find it.:D

Not right now it isn't, but come fall it is .... Canada's true national color tho is black .... the color of a hockey puck.;)

I know this is a wander .... but it's my thread so what the Hell .... and it might belong (and be more fun) in the over 18s .... but I'm not allowed in there. Anyway, I have finally discovered an Olympic event that I love. Women's Beach Volleyball.:alright: C'mon fellas; get rid of the old lady, send her shopping or something. Grab a cold one from the firdge; park your ass in front of theTV and enjoy:dancedog: Hot, hard, sweaty bodies with a light dusting of sand:alright::alright::alright:

Well, it's all over for the Canadian women's team ... but what a fight they put up .... No medals, but a hell of a lot to be proud of. Well done girls.
