Santa Cruz

Will Santa Cruz stay at Ewood in January or will he be on his way. In my opinion he's been playing like he doesn't want to be their, he's only a shadow of the player he was last term, If Rovers can get £18/20 million you go a long way to bringing in more players who actually want to be there, no one player is bigger than the club

cashman 20-12-2008 12:27

Re: Santa Cruz

i reckon its simple, tell him, play well until end of season n "THEN" if a bigger club wants ya n will pay the price ya can go. otherwise play crap n nobody will have ya.

Well he was with the team on wednesday visiting the CDU.

Re: Santa Cruz

If a player doesn't want to be there, there's no point in having them there playing badly.

Recent history tells us this, players have too much power. I thought a contract meant something.

sell him...if he doesnt want to play for us, which is quite obvious given his recent performances (mccarthy springs to mind after he failed to sign for chelski)..... if we can get 15 mill for him....10 as a minimum....im sure big sam could find a replacement out there somewhere !!!

Its being toute about this morning in the press that Sam is going to make a £6 million bid for Beatie in Jan, as a replacement for Cruz

as the guy recently signed a new 4 year deal, its about time someone made a stand about such antics IMHO. John Williams would go way up in my estimation if he was the man to do it.:(

Maybe, but decent strikers are few and far between BR, and are not available, unless Sam can pull a rabbit out of the hat like he's done before

I think they're being linked with a lot of ex-Bolton players cashy and some who are still there as well, including Nolan and Davis:(

so we have rejected a bid substantially higher than £12 million.(according to hughes)......WHY ...are we holding out for more or are we just saying your our player you will play for us whether you want to or not !!!!

the time is right to sell, giv sam the money and let him bring in his own players !!!!

Would settle for anything less than 25m off Man City. Look at how influctuated the market is at january ect.

Well I agree and disagree cashy, it would be good to make a stand, but there again do you really want a player at Ewood who don't really want to be there

true but what would you rather have ?..£15-20 million to spend on new players and a happy ship or a player who doesnt want to play, wont give 100 % and will leave for nothing at the end of a well payed contract....

damn sure which i would have mate ;)

thats a debateable point BR, if he don't give 100% then the odds are he will lose his international place, n hes a guy who loves playing fer his country i think. plus all reports on grapevine say he's very happy n positive at the training ground, so personally i think its worth the risk.:)

just heard city are set to make a £17 million take it or leave it offer, won't be sad if rovers refuse, but thats well worth considering. so would not be to upset if it was accepted.

Great Wish list Raver, but would Sam be given all the money to spend on new players, I very much doubt it personally

Don't think Sam would have much of a say in the matter myself Raver:(

the only trouble wi yer list raver n it aint a bad un, is all those players PLUS all the wages would cost far more than the santa cruz fee, even if sam gets it all, so forget it.

Its in the Guardian this morning that Sam would do a deal for Santa Cruz, if it included Daniel Sturridge, I like his style:D

Re: Santa Cruz

Its a difficult one really isnt it. Lets be honest, its looks like he's going to leave at some point, so whats the best deal for the club? I quite like the way Big Sam is handling the situation. He's challenged Santa Cruz to get fit, score goals, keep Rovers in the Prem...and then see how things are at the end of the season. Bit like whats happening at Boro with Downing...although Rovers havn't gone so far as to say he's definately not for sale! If he does go, then i think we can be sure that we will get the best possible price for him. Again, being perfectly honest, good a player as Santa Cruz is, he aint World Class, and he certainly aint worth £20 million quid. However keeping Rovers in the Prem is certainly worth more than that. So my gut feeling would be to tell him to knuckle down for the rest of the season and if he wants to go in the Summer then let him. It might be that this way, we might not get quite as much money for him, but if he did help keep us in the Prem, then it would be worth it. I seem to recall when he signed his improved contract 6 months ago, he said he thought he had a duty to show loyalty to Blackburn, perhaps he should be reminded of those words now! Whoever we move for, if he leaves now, will also have an inflated value put on them too, and none of the names mentioned excites me at all. Afraid it would make me Puke to see Joey Barton in a Rovers shirt!

Best Regards - Taggy

Kenwyne Jones has just signed a new contract with Sunderland till 2013,despite moneybags Spurs trying to sign him, forget league positions, Spurs are a bigger club.I.M.H.O. i think its good to see a young man show "LOYALTY" to his club n maybe Santa Cruz could learn summat from it?

I actually laughed when I saw that cashy, Contracts aren't worth the paper they're written on, Santa Cruz did the same thing only last August, and he's been jumping through hoops trying to get to City

Ain't that the case cashy with a lot of today's pampered footballers, they always think the grass is greener on the other side. I can remember saying when Shearer left the Rovers that his Championship medal won at Ewood, would be the only silverware he would win before he hung up his boots, and I was right. Just like a lot of players who go to these so called "Big" clubs, and sit warming the bench, remember Sutton went to Chelski and only scored 2 goals before he went to play in the micky mouse league

Re: Santa Cruz

just heard on skysports news man city have failed to take up option of 25 million, to buy santa cruz. the guy aint worth that, but i regard it as a bit of good business.having no replacement at this time n needing to stay in premier, every player has his price at small clubs, so its great to see em making people pay through the nose if they want our best.:):):):):):)

Re: Santa Cruz

Yep i'll agree with that one Cashy! OK i think we all know he will leave in the Summer, and probably for a bit less than that, but will be more than worth it to Rovers if he helps keep premiership status for them.

Your right there Reamer, can remember not that long ago that Middlesborough got to both the League Cup and FA Cup finals and got relegated
