i was watching sky sports news yesterday and i was just shocked at how frail bobby robson had become. i knew he had cancer but seeing him so weak from his former self was so saddening.

battling cancer for a fifth time has really taken the toll on this great bloke.

What a career ... truly one of the greats of all time ... even tho' it is sad to see him like this, he is fighting to the end ... a true credit to his sport and to his nation.

Were you lucky enough to see him play? I know Royboy was .... I saw him at Turf Moor, and remember booing him, not because he was a bad player, but because he was such a fierce competitor, always dangerous.

Please don't start with nasty comments about Jade.

Her situation is desperately sad. :(

It is sad to see anyone suffer from cancer, it's not a competition. :(

I agree with Lilly, Jade has had a bad deal throughout her life and is now trying to ensure that her boys want for nothing.

Cancer is a horrendous disease and I feel for anybody having to deal with it.

Jade Goody Eric, you won't have heard of her but she is a twenty seven year old mother of two who has terminal cancer. Having cancer at any age is bad enough but when it is somebody so young it is especially sad in my eyes. As Lilly said it is not a competetion it is just terribly sad.

Thanks for the info .... tend to agree it ain't a competition ... and it is sad at any age: sad to see someone so young dying, and also sad to see how it savages someone who has always been so strong ... and it's such a hit and miss thing .... Bobby Robson reminds me of Gordie Howe, one of the great hockey players of all time ("Mr. Hockey" and "Mr. Elbows.") I find the physical resemblance striking ... as is their lifetime commitment to a sport they loved, and excelled at ... yet Howe, born in '28 is still going strong ... I think I am trying to say, that having cancer is the luck of the draw ... but that doesn't make it any easier .... anyhow, I'm wandering again, time to go eat.

Very true.

Jade's battle is over, as she has terminal cancer.

I hope Bobby manages to win his battle against it.

He's a fighter Rindi, he's overcome it before on several occasions, lets just hoe he has the strength to fight it again
