Tealeaf ????
Tealeaf young sir........
Do I remember you talking about the England team not making it past the group stages and the team being home by now?????????? Could it be you were VERY wrong ???? |
Re: Tealeaf ????
I cannot answer for Tealeaf, but I must admit I felt the same way. I honestly didn't think England would make it to the ¼ finals. So anybody can be wrong. England deserve their place in tonights match...no arguement, and I hope they can go further, even go on to win the final.
I also thought that Germany (with their luck) would get through. But once again I proved to be a bad judge of their luck. They were simply not good enough. But that's football...As always I'll be shouting for England to-night................ |
Re: Tealeaf ????
Simon,
I have not looked through my postings on this, but I do not recall stating that England "would not make it past the group stage". I do remember, however, stating England's past record in the European Championship, which is that they have only previously gone beyond the group stage on one occaision. You happy now? |
Re: Tealeaf ????
Very..........
You did state that david beckham would be home today :) 3-2 england |
Re: Tealeaf ????
Well, for all of Beckham's contribution so far, it does'nt reallly matter where he is, does it?
|
Re: Tealeaf ????
I'm with you on that Tealeaf...
|
Re: Tealeaf ????
It does look as though spain has slowed him down a bit but who else is better??
|
Re: Tealeaf ????
It's a Team. No matter how good he is/was, he's no better that anyone else on his own.
And like the rest of us mortals.....we're all superseded sooner or later. |
Re: Tealeaf ????
Play anyone else or play a 10 man team; anything or anybody is an improvement on that self-centered pillock.
|
Re: Tealeaf ????

Davids Performance has slipped slightly and yes he is very full of himself but if u were callled the best footballer in the world by some random magazine u wud b 2 also i think john terry shud sod off and let jamie carragher play instead of him |
Re: Tealeaf ????
I think the solution would be to play Tim Henman at no.7 for England and enter Beckham for Wimbledon.
|
Re: Tealeaf ????
so funny not?
|
Re: Tealeaf ????
1-0, bring on the semis (hope). Looks like portugal may equalise.

Re: Tealeaf ????
I'm trying to be objective - yeh they were the better team going forward, but we had a game plan once we went one ahead to defend. I dont agree with it but......
The referee was unbelievably poor - I cant believe some of the decisions tonite, again I'm trying to be objective, goal ruled out for what exactly (just like St.Etienne 1998). How many more times must we go out like this? I feel totally destroyed.....again.....now all we've got to 'look forward to' is the effette middle-class hurrahs with their "c'mon Tim". Good luck to him all the same - just not my cup of tea really. C'mon then Tealeaf - give us the benefit of your footballing opinion, you know you want to......!!!!! |

Re: Tealeaf ????
Hi CJ.....my brain is in serious trouble at the moment so I'm afraid you're going to be spared the usual lucid analysis and exposure to the truth. But there really is'nt much more to be said above what has already been written. I've stuck my neck out for the last few weeks and stated that England were of insufficient calibre to win this tournament; that Beckham is merely ornament; and that the team should be managed by someone other than Sven.
Footy is about 70% skill and 20% luck, the latter clearly deserting us last night...but it is also about 10% will to win, and that is something blatantly absent from this team. Who now remembers that farrago last october when, after Ferdinand failed to turn up for his drugs test, the team, led by Beckham, threathened to strike, saying the "FA failed us badly".? Does anyone reading this seriously believe that this team had the willpower and love of country to win this tournament when they were prepared to mutiny? Beckham and the others should have been told in no uncertain terms that he & theywould never wear an England shirt again. But don't worry........the entire nonsense starts all over again next year with the qualifiers for World Cup 06...who do you think will be repreenting our country? I think I know, and I think I know what's going to happen as well. :engsmil: <---------these things are'nt just for footy, you know. |

Her is a good link for anybody who wants to let that swiss ref know what you FEEL...........
http://www.ursmeier.ch/referee/ Happy emailing :) |
Re: Tealeaf ????
Ooh, that's his website isn't it? Haven't checked it out yet but they announced it on the tea time news on Granada.. Have a feeling that he's going to get lots of negative e mail. :D
|
Re: Tealeaf ????
Will he be able to understand it in English?
|
Re: Tealeaf ????
I just sent him an email........... He Refereed an ENGLISH game lets hope he can (maybe thats why he was so BAD) :) :)
|
Re: Tealeaf ????
Just sent the referee an email, no doubt he will have recieved thousands and none of them will be nice.
|
Re: Tealeaf ????
OOOOO i just sent him a harsh email maybe a little bit too harsh but for the tears he caused this great nation he deserves all he gets!!!
|
Re: Tealeaf ????
I dont ever doubt our will to win and even though I didn't agree with the threat to strike I think it showed a 'togetherness' within the side. thursday night was heartbreaking (again!) but we must be optimistic - a defeatist attitude is not suited to the English culture.
I hope your brain is feeling better Tealeaf!? I bet it doesn't help that the RU team is being beaten by Australia 41-16 at the moment, that's five out of the last six they have lost - what is going wrong? Apparently the ref website was closed won yesterday after it received over 30,000 hits in one minute. I went on to have a look and had a serious debate with myself concerning whether to offer the ref some 'constructive criticism' - decided against it as it wasn't helping my rehabilitation so went down the pub instead. Funny how pain subsides in correlation to the amount of beer consumed....... |
Re: Tealeaf ????
OK we didn't deserve to lose. showed true grit and a belief in ourselves. A fantastic performance and I was as gutted as the next fan. With a little luck we could have gone all the way. Look at Greece?
But did we look like the best in europe ? ... I think not :( |
Re: Tealeaf ????
The England Football Coach, Sven Groan Ericsson is appearing on "Who wants to be a Millionaire?"
He has reached the million pound question and Chris Tarrant says, "Right Sven, this one is for a million pounds, and remember you still have two lifelines left, so please take your time. Here's your question : What type of animal lives in a Sett?" Is it, A) a badger B) a ferret C) a mole OR D) a cuckoo? Remember that he's from Sweden and some unusual English words may not be known to him. Sven ponders for a while, and says, "No, I'm sorry Chris, I'm not sure. I'll have to go 50:50. "Right, Sven, we'll take away two wrong answers and you are left with BADGER and CUCKOO. Sven has a long think, then scratches his head and says, "No, Chris, I'm still not sure. I'll phone a friend" "Who are you going to call, Sven?", asks Chris. "Hmmmmm, I think I'll call David Beckham", says Sven. So Chris telephones David Beckham. "David, this is Chris Tarrant from 'Who wants to be a Millionaire?'. I've got Sven Goran Ericsson here and with your help he could win a million pounds. The next voice you ill hear will be Sven's". "Hello, David" says Sven. "It's the boss here. What type of animal lives in a sett? Is it a badger or a cuckoo?" "It's a badger, boss", says David without any hesitation. "Are you sure, son?" asks Sven. "Definitely, boss. One hundred per cent. It's a badger. Definitely." "Right, Chris," says Sven, "I'll go with David. The answer's a badger." "Is that your final answer, Sven?" asks Chris. "Yes!" says Sven. "That's the correct answer, you've won the million pounds!!" Wild celebrations ensue in the studio ..... Next morning at football training, Sven calls David across. "Son, that was brilliant last night. I thought I might be taking a gamble giving you a call, but you played a blinder! But how did you know that a badger lives in a sett?" "Oh ..., I didn't, boss." replies David, "but everyone knows a cuckoo lives in a clock" |

Message currently on the refs website:
'Im Moment können leider keine E-Mails versendet werden.' which roughly translates to 'You can't send any emails right now.' |
Re: Tealeaf ????
No surprise, but you can leave feedback.
We all know svens a poor manager as well as a lier. |
Re: Tealeaf ????
What makes you think Sven is a poor manager and a liar??
|
Re: Tealeaf ????
well said Smiffy :)
|
Re: Tealeaf ????
I think Sven should stay, we won that match!
He's a good manager, and beckam just made a few mistakes, but we all do. Going to bed now, brain melting.......Night! |

Re: Tealeaf ????
Well i thought that his tactics were poor, everytime we went in the lead in a match we sat back and defended.
And him being a liar; he signed a contract with blackburn rovers but never honoured it. |
Re: Tealeaf ????
Sven's my choice anyway I feel he is the right man still for the job and take us on to big things, Same with Beckham, yes he missed 2 penalties, but he is still an excellent leader and still one of the best players in the game.
Only critiscm of Sven is his selections, taking Emile Heskey, I cant believe he picked him over James Beattie and Alan Smith both having excellent seasons domestically. Also is there anyone who rates Owen Hargreaves? Does he play well for Bayern? Does he actually get a game a Bayern?? All our players will be in their "prime" in our next major tournament who says we cant do it! Bring on the World Cup......... |
Re: Tealeaf ????
Yeh I agree ;)
We have not looked this good for a long time.............!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.............. .. So Sven and Becks must be doing something right :):) Just the luck was against us OH and a ref... |
Re: Tealeaf ????
Put an Englishman in charge of the English team...Get Terry Venables back and lets win summat :)
|
Re: Tealeaf ????
Right on Kipax...............Smirking Sven should have had his p45 the moment he stepped off that plane. His reign has produced nowt over the last years and there is no reason to think that will change by World Cup 06. Lets stop blaming everthing else - the ref, the pitch, bad luck - apart from the team. The simple fact is that team was not good enough. We need an Englishman in there, and fast.
There is however, one person, who stands out for his arrogance and his incompitance and that is Beckham. Not satisfied with stating, quote, " I am digusted that people are challenging my leadership" he is now trying to shift the blame for his own pathetic performance to club colleagues at Real Madrid by stating the training regime there was of insufficient rigour (Not his words, this time....he's to stupid to understand their meaning) Beckham did nothing for England in this tournament; his only feeble efforts were his failed penaltys in pursuance of the flattering of his vanity. I suspect the Spaniards will now be getting rid of the fool...I can't see Chelsea having him. Maybe the Japenese J league may have a role for him, selling his "Shu-****e" bum cream at half time on the telly....because thats about all he's good for. |
Re: Tealeaf ????
Always regret not seeing Brian Clough as manager of England.. If the people who choose had some sort of backbone then he would have taken us to glory in his time.
|
Re: Tealeaf ????
bex will end up in qatar with the rich arabs, isnt that what frank le bouf did when he was getting on?
|
Re: Tealeaf ????
Get an Englishman in - like Ron Greenwood, Graham Taylor, Glen Hoddle, Howard Wilkinson, Kevin Keegan etc. Bobby Robson and Terry Venables were the only decent English National managers of the last 25 years - and apart from respect what did they win? Nothing..........and dont suggest Alan Curbishley...seriously?
The players are good enough - its just the way Sven has us playing.....sitting on one-goal leads is not a good enough tactic. |
Re: Tealeaf ????
You missed the best Leeds manager of the lot who had the job for a couple of days... Then had a sniff of more money and left for somewhere with lots of sand (no not southport) Now what was his name again ? :)
|
Re: Tealeaf ????
Becks is still one of the best in the world.....yes he had a terrible tournament but you can't knock him down like you lot are doing.......your'e all sounding like the press always on Beckhams' back.....give it a rest.
We'll see in 2006 when Becks lifts the world cup for us........ |
Re: Tealeaf ????
I know, you are all making beckham a scapegoat, he cant play like superman every game ffs.
|
Re: Tealeaf ????
I don't know Kipax - what was his name? (Don Revie?) Honestly, I dont know who you mean!!
I too don't think that it is fair that Beckham is carrying the blame - but with four very average performances (worst England player performance wise IMO) and two penalty misses people are going to point fingers. I like the guy and never doubt his effort or commitment to England, but people need to realise that he isn't as good as some would have us believe. Put it this way - out of the four in midfield he is the expendable one, I would rather so Owen Hargreaves play. Yes I rate Hargreaves and I know many others who do, he plays regularly for Bayern, and IMO would offer more all over the pitch. |
Re: Tealeaf ????
Don Revie...honest it was on the tip of my tounge...wasnt he leeds manager when they had there best period as top team.... i seem to recall that he held the England job for just a few days then gets offered a managers job for millions by some arab and off he went never to be heard of again... treason some shouted...
beckham.. hmmm the jury is out for me... not ready to condemm him yet but he is skating on thin ice. hargreaves.. absoloutly... rated him from first game.... |
Re: Tealeaf ????
I think it's a shame that we have to have scapegoats, it seems to happen in every major tournament. Beckham has played well for England in previous tournaments and should be allowed the benefit of the doubt. :)
|
Re: Tealeaf ????
I think Beckham did a really good job as Captain, but it has affected his game. Give the lad a chance,,,he tried his best to give support to the rest of the Team.
Owen Hargreaves is a good player but needs some time in the Premier League to toughen himself up. Watched him a lot over here, and he's too light and easily robbed in possesion, But he has a future. As for English managers...well I don't think there are any really top-class ones around at the moment...John Toshack?? (I know he's Welsh, but beggars can't be choosers). |
Re: Tealeaf ????

I am absolutely gobsmacked that people are still posting garbage such as this. Is it being done just to wind people up, or do the likes of Smiffy really believe the tripe they write about Beckham? Or possibly Smiffy may have seen a diistorted version of the last few games because his head was submerged in a bowl of dog vomit....but for your benefit Smiffy, Beckham can't kick, can't pass, can't take penalties, can't tackle, can't defend, is'nt fit, etc, etc. He is (or was) very good at promoting his own image, which you may still wish to believe in...but some of us would one day like to see England win something, and while Beckham remains there is no hope. |
Re: Tealeaf ????
Have to disagree there Lettie - I honestly dont reckon Beckham has played well in any tournament Apart from the one free-kick v. Colombia in WC 1998, the splitting-pass to Owen v. Argentina in WC 1998 and one cross to Shearer v. Portugal in Euro 2000, he has been fairly average in these events. However, he has delivered more often than not in qualifying matches, the most notable being v. Germany, v. Greece, v. Turkey (despite missed penalty!). I wouldn't mind seeing Shaun Wright-Phillips on the right, he is more of a 'proper' winger and actually takes defenders on. Beckham could be tried in the middle, although I'd go for Lampard and Gerrard there anytime.
That's exactly my point Darby - there aren't any proven English managers. Steve Bruce is good and maybe one for the future, Alan Curbishley has done really well but he isn't International Class - I see Bryan Robson has just been sacked from Bradford City (again!). The FA wont have Venables back and he's been out of the game too long anyway, Bobby Robson will finish his managerial career at Newcastle. The only one I'd want is Bobby Robson and that ain't gonna happen.....so saying the solution is to get an Englishman in charge is blinkered nonsense. |
Re: Tealeaf ????
Beckham can't kick or pass Tealeaf? Hahahahahaha! I agree he is over-rated but you really have a problem with him dont you....?!
|
Re: Tealeaf ????
According to a psychiatrist in the newspaper the other day Beckham is possibly suffering from stress with a lot of things that have happened in his life affecting his ability to concentrate. It said he had all the appearance of suffering from clinical depression.
