Footy and we agree Mancie, never did get that bit about these Toon fans, anybody who sit there on a freezing January night with no shirt on, to my mind is not a great football supporter they're half a pork pie short of a picnic:D

There has to be something in the fact that 3 clubs from the tyne area could be relegated, it would save every other club in the prem visiting the north east for a whole year too!

As far as I know WBA are from the midlands but I get your point. I also agree with everyone else in this thread, goodbye Newcastle you won't be missed, well your fans won't.

I think Alan Shearer was under the impression that Newcastle would not be going down, dont see how he could think that really, given the lack of quality, especially up front, Owen was a complete waste of space, you can tell he doesnt need the money any more.

Re: fingers crossed Newcastle

The appointment of Shearer was sheer stupidity and could only happen at a club like Newcastle where its been more a pantamine season than a football season. They were crying out for someone experienced to come in, but Ashley again listened to supporters as he did before with the return of Keegan which was another disaster.

They had a very easy run in under Shearer with plenty of home games to pick up more than enough points to have saved themselves. In the end they went down with a mere whimper.

Saw this little ditty on Teletext, wish I could lay claim to the writing:D

They all went down to Villa Park, twas the 24th of May.
Hoping God would smile on them, upon the sabbath day.
Proud as punch in stripy shirts, cream of the Geordie Nation.
Ganning along to Birmingham to see the religation.
Oh me lads you should have seen them crying, watching the shambles on Te pitch, Premier dream a'dying.
All the lads and lases there all have gloomy faces.
Ganning down to the championship, with all off Shearers Aces
:wave8::wave8::D:D:D:D:D:D

The reason there is such a song and dance about it is due to the fact they only have one club even Sheffield has two
