Souness resigns.
Souness today resigned from blackburn and will take over at newcastle next week.
This move is totally out of the blue, and i`m sure most blackburn fans will wish him the best in his new job. Rumours are that strachan is a favourite for the blacbkburn job. |
Re: Souness resigns.
Bye bye souness.....

Re: Souness resigns.
Newcastle must be pretty desperate.

Re: Souness resigns.
Parks caretaker manager again. He always does a good job.
Anyone else think TP has been given a job for life at the club ? |
Re: Souness resigns.
You`d have thought so. Hes indestructable.
|
Re: Souness resigns.
Watch out Stanley - Rovers could be after Coley as his replacement!!
|
Re: Souness resigns.
Whats the betting that Tony Parkes is caretaker manager for as long as it takes Clive Woodward to get his coaching certificate?
|
Re: Souness resigns.
Wow thats a long time as he never played in the top flight it will take at least 2 yrs.
|
Re: Souness resigns.
A while ago on this forum I predicted Souness would be sacked and Rovers relegated. Slightly off track with Souness but, nevertheless, he's gone. Let's watch Rovers be relegated now.

Re: Souness resigns.
The favourites are.
mark hughes paul jewell mike newell Gerard houllier gordan strachan |
Re: Souness resigns.
I would quite like to see Strachan there. Maybe with Mark Hughes as his assistant. What are they both doing at the moment?
|
Re: Souness resigns.
Strachan quit Southampton to spend some time with his family...(supposably for 2 years) and Hughsey is the manager of the Welsh national team.
|
Re: Souness resigns.
Thanks Smiffy. Well, I don't suppose Mark Hughes would give up that to manage Blackburn. How did Southampton fare under Strachan? I always admired the way he played, he was only small but he never backed down and always gave it 100%.
I love Slater-Scott's line "totally out of the blue" no pun intended no doubt! |
Re: Souness resigns.
Mark Hughes is favourite.
Blackburn have recieved 30 serious applicants. And they say the people to apply are people they wanted. |
Re: Souness resigns.
All the unemployed from Blackburn

Re: Souness resigns.

Re: Souness resigns.
Good riddance to him i say.He has done nothing but gotten rid of all the decent players that said their piece.Anybody disagreeing with Souness was sent packing. How are top flight players supposed to respect him for that?

Re: Souness resigns.
Nice report from Skysports
Blackburn Rovers caretaker manager Tony Parkes has launched an attack on former boss Graeme Souness. Parkes, in temporary charge of Rovers for the sixth time, sees a bright future for the club without Souness. "Newcastle need a Graeme Souness. I don't think we need Graeme now," he said. "I don't think he could have done any better. It's not a good time for him to go, but if anything this week has been like a breath of fresh air," he added. The 55-year-old was demoted to reserve team coach by Souness before he joined Newcastle and now believes the club need a young manager. "We need a young, up-and-coming manager, somebody with modern ideas and a different way of thinking. Somebody with a lower profile," he explained. Wales manager Mark Hughes has been strongly linked with a move to Ewood Park and Parkes has said he would welcome the appointment. "If it's Mark Hughes, we'll welcome him with open arms," said the long-serving Parkes. But remember Mark dont turn your back!!!!!!!!!! |
Re: Souness resigns.
Would welcome Mark Hughes with open arms as well.Souness has had his time and it was not a good one.See how a bad manager can take a good club down. What we need is a manager that is willing to bring on the youth.Get that perfect mix of youth and experience.Somebody who can bring us back to the top half of the table where we belong.Somebody who the players respect

Mark hughes expected to confirm move at 3:30pm
|
Re: Souness resigns.
Aye just heard about it in Sky News.Suposedly he would be doing Wales and Rovers. Why not he has brought Wales on to their best world cup run in years.Goes to show thathe is a good candidate for us

Re: Souness resigns.
How many inflatable sheep will opposition supporters take to Rovers?
|
Re: Souness resigns.
Souness took Rovers out of Division One, won the league cup and took them into Europe - I would hardly say that was not a good time. The problem now is that Rovers fans think that Rovers are one of the top clubs....sorry but they aren't - they may have bought the title once upon a time but lets face it if they got relegated this season they would hardly be spoken of as "fallen giants". So I'd say that Souness did OK for the club all things considered.
