Playing A Weakened Side

Have you noticed that when teams like Blackpool or Wolves play a weakened side, they are charged by the FA.

When teams like Manchester United or Arsenal play a weakened side, its called "Giving the kids a chance"?

Where do we draw the line?

:confused::confused::confused::confused:

Well as far as I'm concerned if clubs have to have squads of 25 players, then selection should be down to the manager, United and Arsenal only play wakened sides i n the league cup can't remember making 10 changes for a league match

My point exactly. They play a weakened side in cup games which don't mean as much to them, to preserve their best players for more important games. Why is that different from teams playing weakened sides in league games they don't expect to win, to preserve them for more important games?

The answer, of course, is because it isn't fair to the other teams in the league. But the likes of United and Arsenal aren't being fair to the fans who pay good money to see their strongest sides, and are devaluing the Cup competitions. For that, they should be brought to book.

Think your answer is United won the league cup the last two seasons

Premier league rules, section E nr. 20

Full Strength Teams
20. In every League Match each participating Club shall field a full strength team.

That is all it states, but then who defines a full strength team if not the Manager, he knows who's fully fit/struggling, carrying a knock ad nausea, so Ian Holloway, to my mind is the man who decides & not some shirt at the PL offices, bureaucrats really pish me off !

Any league official care to argue which is Manchester City's weakened 11?

Can someone please tell me how trying to get the most points over the course of a season is failing to be competitive?

Ridiculous.

ian holloway has threatened to quit if he is fined ...

BBC Sport - Football - I'll quit if I'm fined - Blackpool boss Ian Holloway

As far as im concerned i hope he dont quit or get fined .. hes the manager .. if the premier league knows more than the teams manager .. why arent they managing blackpool ... rather than ian holloway ...

Holloway knows the rules and by changing 10 players he knows what the outcome is. Maybe he has done it delibarately to get out easier :D

The PL insist on 25 strong squads, so long as he uses the players in that squad can't see what he's doing wrong myself

Ian Holloway is a star, the papers must love him

“To put it in gentleman’s terms if you’ve been out for a night and you’re looking for a young lady and you pull one, some weeks they’re good looking and some weeks they’re not the best. Our performance today would have been not the best looking bird but at least we got her in the taxi. She weren’t the best looking lady we ended up taking home but she was very pleasant and very nice, so thanks very much, let’s have a coffee”

“When my wife first saw Marc for the first time, she said he was a fine specimen of a man. She says I have nothing to worry about, but I think she wants me to buy her a QPR shirt with his name on the back for Christmas.”

“You never count your chickens before they hatch. I used to keep parakeets and I never counted every egg thinking I would get all eight birds. You just hoped they came out of the nest box looking all right. I’m like a swan at the moment. I look fine on top of the water but under the water my little legs are going mad.”

“I don’t see the problem with footballers taking their shirts off after scoring a goal? They enjoy it and the young ladies enjoy it too. I suppose thats one of the main reasons women come to football games, to see the young men take their shirts off. Of course they’d have to go and watch another game because my lads are as ugly as sin.”
