Hazard

Anybody see Hazard kick the ball boy during the Swansea v Chelski Semi Final last night, and got a straight red and a 3 match ban for his troubles. To me he was out of order but I could see why he did it, Swansea were holding on to the 2 goal lead from the first leg and the ball went out for a goal kick, but instead of throwing it back to their keeper right away, the lad took it on himself to waste a bit of time by lying on top of the ball, Hazard then kicked the ball and the lad to remove it. It was up to the ref to take charge and warn the Swansea officials about this as it wasn't the only example of a ball boy wasting time, another lad did something similar earlier only he only threw the ball a couple of feet instead of ten yards and left the goalkeeper a twenty yard round trip to retrieve the ball. Glen Hoddle even said it was a tactic used by most clubs instructing ball boys/girls to hurry up if they were losing yet slow down if they were winning. but which ever way Hazard was out of order, but may end up with the FA making a stand on ball retrievers

Re: Hazard

he didn't lie on it directly, he was pushed and fell onto it but yes was slow at getting off but then that is no excuse to go kicking... the ref is the person who decides if it was time wasting and is empowered to add a few extra secs/mins if he sees fit.

it seems its all sorted and nothing else will come of it but he was out of line, you can't do that IMHO

Re: Hazard

The lad was on Twitter before the game saying 'The King of all ball boys is back making his final appearance needed for time wasting' he knew exactly what he was doing but it still doesn't excuse Hazard what he did though.

It must have been frustrating for the Chelsea players, Hazard should have just picked him up in his arms let the ball fall free ...... Then cobbed the little git at the back of the sponsors hoardings :D

Hazard certainly appeared to push him down and then when he fell on top of the ball Hazard kicked him, possibly trying to kick the ball - only Hazard knows wether he intentionally kicked the lad.
Of course he was wasting time, you see it in every match by players as well as ball boys. The referee has the option to warn the culprit and to add time.
IMHO Hazard should get an award - a 3 match ban or more
