Spitting

I thought we'd alleviate this filthy habit from the football field but evidently not, Popov was sent of in the game at the Hawthorns yesterday for spitting at a Spurs player, luckily the ref saw him and he got a straight red card, whats more the score was 0-0 at the time and WBA went on to lose 0-1, it seems WBA Manager Steve Clark was hopping made and so he should be, lets hope the FA make an example of this guy and hit him with a ban that will focus his mind.

Quite agree with you on this one Jay - it is a despicable thing to do, whether it is aimed at anyone or not, just a filthy habit to my mind and then there are the health considerations.
The trouble seems to have filtered all the way through footbal down to school level. Yes, there are times when a player needs to clear his throat but it used to be done over the sideline or ground into the dirt with one's boot. As a slight thread wander - do female footballers also spit?
