fa cup round 5

East lancashire derby, burnley v blackburn at turf moor.

should be a full house, a good/intimidating atmosphere.

thoughts and predictions?

A close win for Blackburn, by one goal. Some trouble on the terraces. Blackburn coaches pelted on the way out of Burnley. Prior to the game, Burnley supporters posting on the Blackburn supporters' sites and Blackburn supporters posting on the Burnley supporters' sites. Probably that hasn't happened much since Blackburn went back up to the Premier League. It was happening a lot during the time the two teams were in the same division.

John, you missed out, burnley fans to go on the rampage, smashing the town centre up again :)

do you think there will be much intrest in this draw?;)

Bagpuss 31-01-2005 19:51

Re: fa cup round 5

Don't know about you Bazf but I've no interest whatsoever it's only a Mickey Mouse cup !!!!

But being a Liverpool supporter I would say that, I'm more interested in the Blue and White S*ite v The Scum.

Re: fa cup round 5

Now now liverpool fans, just because you where outclassed by Burnley you dont need to call it the micky mouse cup. The micky mouse cup is the one that your in the final of, FA Cup much bigger than the Carling Cup.

Fantastic game for the neutrals

I was only joking, judging by the reaction at work today the next two weeks could be quite interesting.
Come you Man U fans, any trophy is worth winning when your teams not Chelsea.

Re: fa cup round 5

wel we have got a nice tie with the blues of merseyside and you know what all the talk is going to be about before and even after the match. we should beat them hopefully by 2-1 i'd say.....

Bazf 01-02-2005 00:35

Re: fa cup round 5

Just been reading an artical in the business press...... and I quote...
3rd quarter reports for Manchester United plc show a downwards trend of merchandise sales in the greater London area with the main loss being in shirt sales, however on the brightside for share watchers of football clubs Chelsea shares are climbing as does there share of the shirt market which has doubled in London and now out paces Manchester United 2-1 in sales. A manager of westend store shirts plus said "before it used to be Man U but now we can't keep Chelsea shirts in the shop, as soon as they arrive we have people waiting for them."
Sound a fickle lot these Man u suporters dont they.http://www.luxweb.co.uk/%7Eaccringt/...lies/smile.gif

ohh i agree alot of so called fans are like that they follow a team for a while and wen they see something they "think" is better they go for it or follow it like sheep but i guess that does happen with other clubs or it might just be a southern thing.........

mthead 01-02-2005 17:28

Man U , Everton. Should be interesting .Rooneys home coming.Fancy Burnley for another upset too, especially with home advantage

Cafu01 01-02-2005 17:58

Re: fa cup round 5

Burnley going to be very hard to beat with the defense they have, its quality.

Last 7 home games no goals conceded

mthead 01-02-2005 18:02

Re: fa cup round 5

yeah cafu i think low of averages on their side too.been awhile since they turned them over.

Bagpuss 01-02-2005 21:36

Re: fa cup round 5

Did you know that if Everton lose to Man Utd and they go on to win the FA Cup, Everton get £250,000 as part of the Rooney transfer, now that's an incentive to get beat.

Cafu01 01-02-2005 21:36

Re: fa cup round 5

This is going to be one hell of a game, cant wait

But the prise money for this round is £120k, then TV money for the next round (all 4 games on TV in 6th round) is £260k, and if you win that you get £250k prise money. Much more than the £250k from rooney deal

Bagpuss 01-02-2005 21:49

But I got a nibble out of you Cafu01 so it was worth the post !!!

And knowing the way Evertoians count......... 6 mil for a big stumbling jock thug they can now sell for oh lets think er zero, Danish midfielder they paid 5 mil for sold to a top Spanish club for 2 mil, so 250,000 for losing to scum well why not.

The Burnley v Blackburn derby game is on Sunday 20th at lunchtime, and is being televised live on BBC. So it will not clash with the Stanley game.

Cafu01 02-02-2005 16:42

Re: fa cup round 5

But some people who usually go to Stanley will go to the game and might not be able to afford to come to stanley the day before

Mickey mouse cup or not it is still a way in to europe.Only time the Burnley Team will get in to Europe is when they go on holiday. After the take over from mark Hughes i believe rovers have shown their fighting spirit.Cannot see burnley haveing a chance. They always sell on their best players anyway

accymel 06-02-2005 11:05

Re: fa cup round 5

Apparently Burnley have seperated allocation tickets for the FA rival match, those who bought tickets for the leeds game get 2nd priority to season ticket holders probably in hope of a full house for the leeds game yesterday which wasn't the big sellout as soon fans was lead to beleive

Cafu01 10-02-2005 16:54

Re: fa cup round 5

And it was about 30p a minute as well probably, so say 10 minutes = £3 , 10,000 people phone up, thats an extra 30k for the club, they will have did it on purpose to get more money.

slater_scott 11-02-2005 09:06

Re: fa cup round 5

I very much doubt 10,000 people phoned up, especially when ques were about 30 people long on the phone lines.

slater_scott 12-02-2005 08:46

Re: fa cup round 5

Yeh what do you expect with the price they charged £20 + for a replay on a weds night.

That was cardiffs doing.

However we have no excuses for our poor attendence v colchester.

How many people are in Blackburn (i dont have a clue but say 90,000) , your telling me that less than a 1000 will have phoned up for a ticket - - no chance. And what about people from outside Blackburn, i bet there was about 30,000 people from blackburn wanting a ticket and at least 5000 will have phoned up

Wynonie Harris 14-02-2005 11:54

Re: fa cup round 5

So, anybody out there who tried to get a ticket and failed..don't write next weekend off, football-wise. Get yerself along to the IES on the day before and support Stanley's promotion push! :)

mthead 14-02-2005 13:36

Re: fa cup round 5

well said cafu..but then again they do usually struggle to sell tickets any way.hence all the adverts on rock fm.LOL

Over 100,000 live in blackburn, but people who live in blackburn will surely go down to the ticket office. i have never rang up for a ticket in my life, i always go down and buy it in person.

If we had an unlimited amount of tickets, i bet we would have struggled selling 7,000.

I`m taking in the bolton match this saturday its only £5. Bargain.

mthead 15-02-2005 23:57

Re: fa cup round 5

like i said on previous post rovers cant sell tickets.fan base gone down the pan since winning championship....

slater_scott 16-02-2005 09:49

Re: fa cup round 5

its only gone down in the last year.

when we won the league, our average was 25,000, our average was probably 25,000 last year.

This year tis about 22,000.

But to be honest Stanley more than likely have a bigger avge crowd than Burnley.Burnley for the Conference.
