Just how United is Newcastle?

As a passionate hockey fan, I am not adverse to a bit of fisticuffs during a game, but this is a bit much.

Re: Just how United is Newcastle?

...On the one hand we have Lee Bowyer, whose list of accomplishments include allegedly racially abusing an employee then trashing a McDonalds after a late-night drinking binge, then he moved on to Leeds where he was defendant #2 in the most-publicised footballing trial of the decade - once again racism was the charge.
On to Newcastle where has been nabbed for seven games for intentionally stamping on an opponent in Europe.

Matched against this fine fellow we have Kieron Dyer - he of the infamous holiday videos with slappers in Cyprus. He's also well known for publicising how much he earns to whomever will listen, not to mention admitting that he was responsible for Bobby Robson's departure from Tyneside. Has been accused at various times of 'roasting', being in bar brawls and other professional behaviour not forgetting the famous I loost my earring incident.

With these facts in mind is anyone surprised that these two idiots managed to disgrace the game that feeds them even more than we thought possible? Bowyer should have his contract terminated immediately, and Dyer should be fined £120k (two weeks' wages is the max, right?) - only because Bowyer clearly threw the first punches.

The Quotes are out..............

According to Sky Sports, 'The FA are to study referee Barry Knight's report of Lee Bowyer's fight with Kieron Dyer.'

What are they expecting? A blow-by-blow account? Unless Knight has eyes in the back of his head, and is a boxing fan, it's unlikely.

Could they not just watch the fight on the tele like everybody else?
Appropriate Quote Of The Day
"Lee's put his hands up and accepted the fine," - David Giess, Lee Bowyer's agent.
Prescient Kieron
"It has been a roller-coaster season, with massive highs and massive lows but there's so many highs at the moment and hopefully that will continue through to the end of the season" – Kieron Dyer, March 29.
We've Heard It Said Reports The Times:
Sources confirmed that there was no history of disagreement behind the clash, nor was there a racial element.
Would those 'sources' be Kieron Dyer and his exclusive interview with The Daily Mirror in which he insisted: "There is no question that the fight was sparked by racial abuse from him. That is categorically not the case. It was just a silly argument about not passing the ball to him. It was a flare-up out of nothing."

Meanwhile, following his swift retraction after claiming that Bowyer and Dyer have "had a laugh" about their contretemps, will Souness also be issuing a clarification regarding his comment a week ago that:

"Our current midfield is full of intensity and they play at such a high tempo that opposing teams do not know how to handle them. we have real energy in there, and a bit of class as well. If I were an opposing manager playing against Newcastle United, I would be worried when I looked at the midfield."

Re: Just how United is Newcastle?

dyer did throw a punch but who wouldnt if they were in his situation....getting absolutely battered! Im not saying it was right but it was self defence.

John_Timmins 05-04-2005 16:51

Re: Just how United is Newcastle?

I dont think it was self defence
Dyer was standing facing bowyer like he wanted to fight and then when bowyer lamped him he panniked both should be susupended and fined maximum

Souness could not organise a p**s up in a brewerey. All he is good for is coming in shouting the odds and taking every good club dow.down to his level which is rock bottom.Did it with Rovers and now with Newcastle.
