Hillendale Land Rover

So....I'm looking to replace my tank and being aware that 1st Sept the new plates come out, I've had my eye on a 2010 freelander up for sale at Hillendale for the past couple of weeks.

The price was ...£15,912. I'll hang back and wait, because I'm a logical kind of guy who expects the price will drop a touch and give me some bargaining power when the new plates come out. All enthusiastic like, I click the Hillendale website ready to book a test drive.... and.....it's now priced at £17,412????

Sale lost....I'm off, in text speak....u r 'avin a laff

I've never had much faith in main dealers or the price they charge for servicing, where you can sit with a 'free' latte, watching a mechanic in pristine overalls, through plate glass, in an area that resembles an operating theatre, connecting a laptop to your engine before sucking in the obligatory breath and shaking his head. Then he replaces the offending part with a new one using a brand spanking new ring spanner drawn from stores.

The guy I use, doesn't have a latte machine, he doesn't have a viewing gallery, he has dirty overalls and is always covered in oil, he tries to fix the part that goes wrong before he buys a new one, doesn't finish at 5 and works weekends so I don't have to have a day off. He doesn't treat me like an idiot, even though I am where anything under the bonnet is concerned

A quick look at the Hillendale site shows 23 people are required to sell me a car. (none of whom keep the place clean, fix the cars or ensure they actually work), The bulk are advisors, specialists and adminstrators..no bleedin' wonder they have to hike the price of a second hand car above the going rate.

No doubt in a months time, the car will be up for sale at £15,912 with a big red sale sticker of £1500 off, and someone will negotiate another £500 off and will think 'Wow, I just screwed a main dealer over'...dream on!
