Can someone tell me why, when i try to change my avatar i load an animated gif from my pc but when i save it, it says not valid gif. What do i have to do?

You can either save this image to you pc by right clicking and selecting “Save image as”
Or just enter the url address into the box in your “edit avatar” section.

Cheers Len, i did save the image to my pc from the site, but could not get it to work when i tried to change the avatar. I'm now a happy bunny.

I know there's an actual solution to Janet's original problem of the gif downloading to her PC as a bmp but I don't know the explanation.

I know this has solved it by getting round it another way but if when you try to save a gif it only saves one of the frames as a bmp it's because your PC is bunged up and needs unbunging.

Can one of you techy bods explain properly how that is done? I know how to make sure mine will do it OK but I don't know how to explain it to someone else. (about not compressing graphics and stuff like that as well as making sure you regularly clear the cache thingy)

I'm not very good at pc stuff and when I came on Accy web i tried to put my Barny av on but I could'nt,so thats why you've got Sylvester instead!:D

On BW Willow, they have him in the choose an AV section but on here you don't:( he's my double!:)

Sorry willow it’s above my head.. I simply right click on an animated gif and “Save image As…” it seems to work every time for me. Maybe some one else can explain.

Sorry Willow wrong choice of words on my part, it's not that it won't let me, I don't know how to do it :(

Oh I really am quite numb :( when it comes to things like that. I can't find the URL all I can find is that it says tinkerbellblinkie.gif and it's having none of that. I think I will have to admit defeat, I've tried a few different things to get it on, all to no avail!!

Just copy and paste that in but make sure you click on the image tag first and paste it in that window.

Grr flippin thing abbreviated! Now you'll have to remember it needs http:// in front of it.

I've tried about twenty times to get old Barney to down load as an av, but it keeps not working:( ,can anyone tell me were Im going wrong please? I'm a spanner at this sort of stuff but the kids will laugh at me if I've got to ask them again!:o :)

OK, just follow this:

Go and look at Barney where I posted him.

Click on him and in your browser bar you'll get the URL. Highlight and copy that. Then go to the edit avatar page in your User Control Panel. Go down to the section where it says use a custom avatar. Select that by clicking in the little circle so that a dot appears there and then paste the URL in the appropriate place.

Don't forget to click "save changes" at the end.

Some of these are really hard to do I've been playing with another blinkie but I don't think it's going to work. I'm not right good with paint!

Blinkies don't blink in Paint because Paint isn't an animation programme. Give me a minute and I'll make that one do something.

Willow I tried doing a copy of the av of barney thats on here,when I try to download it keeps saying not valida gif:confused: ,so the best I can get is this one of him that I'm not very keen of!:( am I doing something wrong? Thanks for the help your all giving! I know I can do this without the help of smart arsenal kids!!!:)
