Re: You favourite musical
What kind of musical? Broadway or adapted for TV ...... Oh I'll answer both
Broadway ...... Miss Saigon with a close 2nd being West Side Story. TV musical ...... Chicago, because Richard Gere is in it :D |
Re: You favourite musical
Moulin Rouge is very good.Great songs, surreal settings, great cast & very colourful.

Re: You favourite musical
Chicago. I adore it.
I was lucky enough to go to the first night of this current West End production of it, with Ruthie Henshall, the divine Ute Lemper, and Nigel Planner. I saw it three more times with different casts, each time wonderfully sexy. I recommended it to my old boss, to take his wife for her birthday, and they hated it. Philistines! |
Re: You favourite musical
Theres too many to mention....
Love Chicago. The Producers is hilarious (Peter Kay is in the version thats coming to Manchester, playing Roger DeBris. I can't wait to see that!!) The Lion King, Joseph, Cats, Le Mis....... I really could go on. Love all musicals. (Oooh! Me & My Girl, coz i've been in it.) |
Re: You favourite musical
Tommy!!! simple as.

Re: You favourite musical
Quadrophenia.
It's not typically a musical. But I don't care. Quadrophenia. |
Re: You favourite musical
My favourite is 'Fiddler on the Roof' .. love every song, particularly 'Sunrise, Sunset' and the all the libretto that goes with it. Like 'Phantom' too, but not the music, just for the spectical, which is what it is really .. unless you have millions of pounds to spend on staging and effects, forget it !
Ok .. 'Grease' is great too and 'Little Shop of Horrors' .. great fun. Would go and watch any professional musical now (produced in the U.K. of course, 'cause we do it best) as the talent amongst the performers is absolutely outstanding. X-Factor/Pop Star wannabee's go and watch some of these performers .. you might learn plenty. |

Re: You favourite musical
I've got a lot of favorites (performed in a lot of them, too!)
Guys and Dolls The Music Man Showboat Kiss Me Kate The Light in the Piazza Peter Pan Man of La Mancha City of Angels Also love G&S - my "niece" (actually, my best friend's daughter) just was cast as Elsie in an upcoming production of Yeoman of the Guard in New York City. With a bit of luck, she will make a career in opera. |
Re: You favourite musical
Speaking of musicals, anyone have recommendations for which ones I should se in London?

It's star, Connie Fisher, who won the Maria role as part of a television reality programme. Much to everyone's amazement the critics have lavished praise on her and the production. Tickets are like gold dust, but it might be worth trying for returns. |

Re: You favourite musical
I absolutely love Les Miserables, have seen it 3 times at the theatre - the music and the story is beautiful and I never leave with dry eyes! Also love Evita, watched the film and thought Madonna was fantastic. Phantom is also a fave of mine.

Re: You favourite musical
I enjoyed the Moggy thing, but I'm a little backward with musicals so it's hard to comment. Maybe I should get out more....:)
Oh, I also remember the Rocky Horror thing, but I gobbled my Bounty before the curtain went up. |
Re: You favourite musical
Carousel......I just love the story and the songs are lovely, melodic and full of emotion.....I know it's an old one......and maybe I'm getting soft in my old age...but it always leaves me with a lump in my throat.
I saw Chicago in Melbourne...paid a fortune for tickets as it was in it's last week of showing there......and HATED it. |
Re: You favourite musical
my vote for best live show goes to either 'Mama Mia' or the Donny Osmond thing ' Joseph and amazing technicolor dreamcoat' ,
Not sure if this counts as a musical since there is no singing just great dancing was 'Tango Argentina' the absolute worst live musical ever was a pre Broadway run a couple of years ago of 'Some like it Hot' with a 70 odd year old Tony Curtis, the theatre emptied out at half time, the few of us who went back only returned to see if it could get any worse ....it did . |
