CDs v's MP3s
 

I tend to rip my CD's to the pc so I can shove them on my MP3 player and listen in peace (it also comes in handy when I'm being whinged at, hide the earphones under my hair and just nod every now again to make it look like I'm listening :D).

I have a CD on now through the stereo but it just doesn't compete with the quality of the same album coming through my MP3 player. You seem to hear the different 'layers' of music better in MP3. Are MP3 a clearer format?

Which do you prefer?

If anything MP3s are far lower quality than CD[1]. Its just the quality of the device that you are listening on thats being shown up plus the fact that headphones provide a better 'stereo' effect than cheap hifis.

[1] take a CD and throw away chunks of info and you get MP3. its just that most peoples hearing and the devices they play them back on are not good enough to show it up. Try it on my hifi and you will hear the difference.

That's really interesting to know that they are, infact, lower quality than mp3, I seem to get a better quality of sound. It does make sense with the system your playing them on, my s**t hot system knackered up, I'm on a poxy thing that my sister lent me to tide me over at the minute :rolleyes:

WOW! That is really interesting ... so there is a logical reason for it called psychoacoustics :) (If someone had said "What is psychoacoustics?" I'd have said someone who goes mad and trashes their guitar up after playing a right ripping riff :o :D)
