think i was 16 and in London for some football/cup-tie game and we wound up at the Flamingo club in SoHo , a big black guy offered me a hand rolled cigarette , me being a dumb Arroder had no idea what it was, offered him an Embassy instead .........:D :D :D Georgie Fame and the Blueflames were playing that night

Sorry to see Georgie Fame did'nt get a mention in the Independent article. I think he played a major, roll in 60s soul music, did great covers of all the popular, soul songs of the time. Played all the great clubs of the time, from the Wheel to all the Mecca's, Flamingo, Marquee, and still fantastic, What a talent, or does anybody think he,s overrated, god forbid.

Georgie Fame overrated? You have to be kidding? I don't think he's ever been given the credit he deserves.
