Are there any bands in accy?
 

there is a distinct lack of bands in accy. my dad said that motor head played in accy once and they now live in beverly hills in america so why am i subjected to crappy dance music that belongs in the bin!? come on peple tell me where all the bands play?

Depends what kind of music you're into. Some of the pubs used to have bands on, mainly jam/oasis type people. Seen a couple of good blues bands at the town hall, bands a plenty at the park party in the summer, of course, all the famous ones are in Manchester.

The George on Blackburn road used to have regular live bands on but i dont think that much is happening there now, you need to get out of town for your pleasures at he moment.
Try the Rhythm Station in Rawtenstall, worth giving them a call or they may even have a website, its a bitch if you have to catch the last bus home.
Colne Blues festival is a great place, lots of good blues bands, most of the venues are free admission.

any rock band to be honest but i'd like to see more heavy metal and less tribute bands. :singer: :poke2:

Ur just about 3 years too late mate. There were a least two cracking metal bands around Accy ~ Gridlock and Buffalo (think they might still be gigging, you'll have to check the website). There's another band called AC/DO (AC/DC tribute). very good but boring unless you're into AC/DC.

Keep an eye on the hope and anchor. They have rock bands on every few weeks.

I think the closest you're going to get is Manchester. Especially with the bigger names. The Offspring played at Manchester Apollo not so long back and Less than Jake are coming over soon at the same venue. This website is very good for that kind of thing.

what other bands are you lot into?my fave band ever is :D blink 182:D , but i also love greenday, offspring, limp bizkit, bowling for soup, placebo, the darkness,nofx, good charlotte, less than jake, mxpx, avril lavigne (pls dont groan!!)and loads others, iv seen most of these live and hopefully will see loads more.Any more big blink 182 fans come on accy web? BTW i aint no teeny-bopper so dont even go there.although when ya go clubbin round accy town centre ya have to like some of the dance stuff they play (oh dear):o

i saw blink at leeds fest.was gona go to mena to see them at that date but there was only 2 crappy seats left when i got time to get the tickets....so i thought id wait till next time....they are brill tho:)

The darkness are really good, better watching them at a festival or something like that, i saw them at leeds last year.
For a real good band to check out blink 182.

The darkness suck! Thats why i bought one of their hoodys :o i only like the darkness because of the guitar riffs they do, they are very talented... just wish the lead singer would get some balls :mad8:
not realy heard much of blink 182, i used to listen to metallica when i was a kid... then i became a towny (God knows why!:banghead8 ) but i sorted my head out... and now im back on track.

Yeah, I love Blink, saw them not so long back and they were awsome. Don't like the new album so much, though. Just makes you want to kill yourself.
Anybody here like The Rasmus? I saw them on Kerrang a while back and thought they were great, I've bought the album now.

New Accrington based band The Grand Cru are currently working on new demo tracks and a live set.

The best band in Accrington are The Citizen Band, as their recent sell out gigs at the Attic have proved. If you want to go and watch live music there's always quality live bands on at the Attic, Warner Street. There's a good atmosphere and they play 'real' music, none of the disco cack that is favoured by every other town centre pub. Give it a try

Dont play myself but a few of me mates do. They have a full PA but of course you are welcome to play Acoustic too! All music is played but main ly Blues and Rock. A lot of them are the same lot who used to Jam at the Royal in Great Harwood and also Rhythm Station too. Good mixture of ages too. Burt the bass guitarist is usually there most people in area will probably know him, and Les Walker too who now also has a band called Snatchinitback! Me I just empty Karaoke Bars I'm afraid!! :)

Hi Everyone! I have come across quite a few rock bands locally that are quality. Theres Salacious who are a rock band with an awesome female singer, The Rising who are an alternative/indie band who are quality, Scarlett Marshalls as well if nobodys heard of any of them check out myspace. I saw a poster for Salacious who are playing at Snuffy's in Gt Harwood next Sunday afternoon. Its well worth checking them out! Have you been to The Attic in Accrington - they have lots of top bands on every Saturday night.

You could always try the Attic... think they have local bands on fairly regularly. There's also the Independent which runs one Friday a month at the Cellar Bar in Blackburn and twice a month (Thursdays) at the Evolution Lounge (used to be The Works), Northgate, Blackburn.

I think King St in Accy sometimes put bands on... played there once filling in for another band who pulled out, but not sure if that was a one-off.

There also used to be jam nights - open to anyone - at Barzooka in Blackburn. Ian H used to run them, but not sure if it's still going on.

A bit of free promo but I'm in a band called 'Salacious' from Accrington. We are a female fronted indie/rock band performing and writing our own material.

Hi, check out the Stanley on Stanley Street on Monday nights from 9.00. There is everything from blues to free jazz, rock to country and oldies to some of the newest bands on the scene. Don't come to judge, come to clap and appreciate musicians/singers doing their best!
If you play bring your instrument, if you sing, bring your voice.
