Eric Clapton
When growing up in the 90s I always thought this guy was a boring old fart, always looked like that mean next door neighbour that would pop your footy if it hit his plantpots, which really put me off for a long, long time :D
I've been reading up on him lately and listening to some of his early blues stuff aswell as the hits and, speaking as a guitarist aswell as a fully fledged addict to rock n roll, the guy absolutely blows me away. For a guy to go through all the terrible things he has gone through and to still be touring the world as one of the greatest musicians ever, it's astounding. Any Clapton fans out there? |
Re: Eric Clapton
ok , shakermaker something we can agree on :D
"Wonderful Tonight " playing low in the background can still work magic, ;) |
Re: Eric Clapton
shakermaker, if you want to checkout some good guitar playing , checkout 'the Shadows' and 'Jet Harris/Tony Mehan' , both 'groups' did some good stuff around 62/63/64 but kind of fell out of fashion with the rise of the 'Mersey Beat' . Listening to these guys its easy to see what a rip-off Dire Straits were a generation later ;)

Re: Eric Clapton
Yeah I listen to a fair bit of the Shadows, especially when I'm coming to the tail end of my rockabilly collection.
Jet Harris & Tony Mehan did 'Diamonds' didn't they. I'll have a look at some of their other stuff. Ta steeljack. |
Re: Eric Clapton
Shakey, don't know if you've heard it, but well worth checking out Eric Clapton's music with John Mayall's Bluesbreakers from 1966. Absolutely stunning stuff!
