female singers ..who still presses your buttons

ok , maybe a bit of a misogyinst thread ( a female/lady member can start her own thread) but a question for the blokes/chaps/males who use this site ..... who do you still have a 'teenage' chrush/fantasys over .....?
what song/singer is allways in the back of your mind , and whenever you hear her singing a particular song, a little light bulb lights up , and heartstrings tug for whatever reason ....
Older members like Jambutty and Ianto.W , (and I hope they read this post) probably would maybe include Alma Cogan or Anne Shelton (no disrespect meant or intended, just an age thing) and a youngster like Shakermaker would maybe include Amy Winehouse or some such creature, it's a generational thing ... but for me ........
Any time I hear Francise Hardy singing 'all over the world " it just puts me in another time and place , same with the Jane Birkin and 'Je Taime' do any other users of the group have a song that presses their buttons ...

posts welcome from any generations , just let us know why ...:D

Diana Ross.. 35 years later she looks better as a grandmother than she ever looked as a young singer. Oh and she can sing a bit ,

Not a singer.. But Felicity kendal was on telly the other night.. Another one that will always age well :)

Debbie Harry of Blondie.

Loved her from the age of twelve, until now, thirty years later.

Met her on my fifteenth birthday, which will go down as the most exciting day of my life.:)

Thanks Margaret I will........The song Over the Rainbow means something a bit special to me........My mother used to sing that and she was a hell of a singer.

I was gonna say the Pussycat Dolls, but I think the paramedics would have to be put on standby.

If we are talking singers, as opposed to eye-candy, my vote goes to Eva Cassidy, closely followed by Sarah Jane Morris.

I Never Loved a Man the Way I Love You - Aretha Franklin . . . . I remember seeing a fine selection of female soul singers at the Wheel & Nelson Imp [they used to do some great American acts] but this one is the tops, still.
Some good songs on The Soul Club

Re: female singers ..who still presses your buttons

This is difficult as there are so many but Kate Bush is a definate singing "The Man With The Child In His Eyes". Closely followed by Jewel singing "Adrian" I also had a thing for Wilson Phillips, The Go-Gos, Lene Marlin, Olivia Newton John as Sandy and the beautiful Sarah Cracknell from St Etienne.

Without sounding like a perv todays singers include Cascada, Kate Nash, Shakira, oh yes indeed.

Re: female singers ..who still presses your buttons

Edith Piaff, singing No Regrets, Billie Holliday, unique without question the finest blues/jaz singer, Kathleen Ferrier, without equal "What is life without you, my bonny Lad, The Keel Row, etc the only Alto/Contralto to even attempt Mahler. Modern female imposters are not worth a mention. In my humble opinion, utter garbage.

She's a Scottish lassie who found stardom in the early eighties on Esther Rantzen's 'The Big Time' television show. Had a few hits, moved to America, hitched up with Prince, had a few global hits this time, and is now wowing people in shellsuits in Las Vegas.
