Phil Spector ......jury still out
ok, here in California we are on day 3 of jury deliberations of Phil Spector's trial for the murder of the skank/druggie wannabe Lana Clarkson , seems to me maybe we will have a hung jury , depending on the vote (usually in Caliornia if a jury cannot agree and the jury votes in the majority 7/5 not guilty the local DA will not ask for a retrial, if its 7/5 guilty or more he will request a retrial) that means either a retrial or he will walk .........whatever your feelings the guy is a Maestro .........responsible for producing some of the best music ever , obviously the guy has problems , but to throw him in with the dogs in San Quentin or in Chowchilla alongside Charlie Manson , I dont know ............
anyone care to comment ............ :D |

there is something definatly wrong with the system, ok , I know the logic doesn't add up and I am comparing apples to oranges , but to me if Phil Spector goes down its a worse injustice than OJ walking note to self ....enough , Bushmills for tonight   |

no one can deny the phil spector sound
but thats not on trial the guy done wrong (perhaps) |
Re: Phil Spector ......jury still out
Got to agree with Beechy & Mr. C on this one, even though the guy did produce some truly awesome records. I would also not wish to speak ill of the dead, but to have descended to this level, when you were once married to one of the most heartstoppingly, jawdroppingly sexy women on the planet does bring his sanity into question!

Re: Phil Spector ......jury still out
Yes I agree, if he's guilty then he deserves the same as anyone else would. Just because he produced some terrific music doesn't make any difference.

Agree with all above.

Re: Phil Spector ......jury still out
greatest producer ever...but nobody should get away with murder...brings to mind the gun laws in the states.. if there had been no gun then in this case it's a fair chance no one would have got killed.

Re: Phil Spector ......jury still out
Famous for the Wall Of Sound, looks like it will be the wall of the State Pen for the rest of his life:rolleyes:

Re: Phil Spector ......jury still out
Its funny that last night at 7pm on BBC2 there was a documentary about Motown first tour of Britain in 1965 and how, and although the line up included Stevie Wonder and Martha Reeves and The Vandellas it never really took of and they where playing to empty house. Motown didn't take of until 1066 when Spector had come up with his sound and the Four Tops were a smash hit on tour over here, the program was good watch

Re: Phil Spector ......jury still out
An innovative producer, but the greatest? That bloody wall of sound contributed to the worst moment in Leonard Cohen's discography... one size does not fit all! I'd go for Sam Phillips :)
Sorry for the wander. |
Re: Phil Spector ......jury still out
It could all have been so different if he'd stayed with Ronnie...
